Beautiful store, with great quality products not found in the other downtown stores. Why the 2-stars? Customer service. My sister and I walked into Romp yesterday afternoon while on a shopping spree downtown. I specifically brought my sister in because she has been missing her favorite shoe store from downtown Santa Barbara since moving to SLO. She immediately fell in love with a pair of boots and with a couple other items. We were greeted once when we walked in, but never attended to or acknowledged after that. There was one single other customer in the store who was trying on a pair of shoes and making a purchase. We perused for about 10 minutes, ooohing and ahhing over certain items and were very interested in trying on a few pairs of shoes. Unfortunately, we weren't deemed worthy enough of attention from the sales lady, who ignored us the entire time. We left the store without being acknowledged or thanked for our visit. This was an extremely sour taste to be left with and we both agreed that driving down to Santa Barbara for our high end shoe purchases would be worth it, rather than being ignored and not helped. read more

There are plenty of one-of-a-kind sneakers for men. Walk to the back of the store so you do not miss the accessories section which includes scarves, belts, and wallets. I can't believe I hadn't wandered into this store sooner! Not only are the shoes fantastic but the staff (Karen and Lexi on this particular day) are so helpful. AND lots of big, long mirrors! Thank you for recognizing that we need more than just the little shoe mirror to really see a great pair of shoes. I agree with another review... the shoes aren't inexpensive and they're not supposed to be. They're well made, comfortable, 'they don't make 'em like this anymore' shoes that are unique and stylish. There's a great atmosphere to this store and I will definately visit it more often! read more

I think I died and went to heaven upon stumbling into this store. The quality and look of all the boots are BEAUTIFUL. Oh, and comfortable! I had to wear the boots out of the store. Lovely shoes, great customer service, what more can you ask for?

I love this store! Romp is located in the heart of quaint downtown SLO, and the chic, stunning inside decor reflects the hospitable location I love so much. Romp has a variety of flats, ankle boots, knee-high boots, heels, and more. While the prices are high, it's due to the fact that the boots are from a variety of top designers and made of Italian leather, and/or other types of high-quality European leather. You pay for the highest quality of shoe...but they last, and they are amazing. I have purchased two pairs of boots here: 1) blue/gray suede, flat, knee-high boot; 2) brown leather, heeled, full-length zipper, knee-high boot Both have lasted years and are still in great shape. Eventually, I will need to resole my older pair, but I will gladly do so because they have held up so well and are absolutely adorable! Overall, a great place with friendly staff. read more

Amazing shoes that cannot be found elsewhere (unless you're in Italy!). I have many awesome pairs of boots, dress shoes, jewelry, and everyday sandals from Romp and always get so many compliments on them. Romp in downtown San Luis Obispo is by far the finest shoe store that I have ever experienced. I love this place; the atmosphere, the staff and the quality of merchandise. Other than the most incredible ladies (Hand-Selected onsite in Milan) Italian boots & shoes and other imports, Romp has a brilliant selection of handbags, belts, jewelry and other accessories made for a queen or princess. Seriously disappointed in the service. Visiting from Sacramento and found a pair of $180 sandals I was prepared to buy, but they did not have my size. I wanted to record the shoe brand/style to try to find my size later, but the sales clerk refused to allow me to take a photo. How did this help either of us? We left not only that snooty shop, but the entire area and headed back to friendlier Santa Barbara. read more
