It was a stop on our tour, not sure I would have come on my own, otherwise. It was crowded, wet and more of an imagined novelty. This wasn't really the balcony used by Shakespeare after all for Romeo and Juliet. The brass statue of Juliet is a nice tribute to her character and to Shakespeare, the creator of such iconic characters. I am not sure what I was expecting, really didn't have any expectations, I suppose. read more

I guess if you're a tourist, you have to come here just to say you did it but I honestly don't get it. It doesn't really have any actual connection to Shakespeare's "Romeo & Juliet" and Shakespeare never even set foot in Verona. Plus, the area is a bottle neck and is completely packed with people. It's hard to even move here. In my opinion, there are far more romantic places in Verona and this place really doesn't even have true historical significance. Sorry, I just don't get it. read more

This maybe is a tourist trap to some, or you are charmed by the legend of Shakespeare writing Romeo and Juliette. However, as the tour guide said, Shakespeare never actually visited Verona and he did not go to this building. You can see a balcony inside the walkway. You can snag a pic on the balcony. It's a little fun to walk through Verona and see this spot, but don't have any big expectations. It's mythical, legendary, and just fantasy. It's not far from the Arena. It's good for a walking tour stop in Verona. Just to dream of Romeo and Juliette because your romance or relationship is far from Shakespeare's book. read more

There are so many wonderful, historic things to see in Verona...and this is not one of them. Seriously. If you enjoy being mobbed in to a seedy narrow pathway that smells of body odor and urine, packed in with tourists desperate to take a photo by a balcony that has nothing to actually do with Shakespeare, clutching your wallet and purse for fear of pickpockets, go for it. Otherwise, keep walking and enjoy the real history this lovely city has to offer. read more

this review is for the gift shop across from the famous balcony. walked into the gift shop with my sister & casually looked around like you do in a normal shop. noticed all of the workers staring at us, but kinda ignored it. continued walking around when a worker started to follow us around. decided to purchase only a water & a post card & went up to the register. asked the lady who was following us, "would you like to check my bag?" & the lady replied, "you kept picking things up & putting them down.. & its my job to follow people around." as we were the only people she was following. rudest workers ever, & way too overpriced. read more
