The Roman Baths Museum is run by Cadw, the historic environment service of the Welsh Assembly Government ('Cadw' means 'to keep' in Welsh).
Using digital displays, the museum creates pictures of how grand these Roman baths would have looked in Roman times, with audio guides and videos.
Roman Wales was the farthest west that the Roman Empire in Roman Britain stretched to, and as a defence point the fortress at Caerleon was one of just 3 permanent Roman Legionary fortresses, and was occupied for more than 200 years.
The Roman Baths Museum lies inside what remains of the fortress (of 'Isca Augusta'), near the National Roman Legion Museum - another top sight in this area. read more
