To our surprise we found burn marks on the seats and floor! It was the middle of summer, and they only let the windows open a couple of inches. *Travelodge Silverlink**…read more Not one to usually pick a budget hotel i decided to listen to my mum and save some money on accommodation when i was staying in Newcastle Location/Getting there This travelodge is quite far away from the train station.It cost about £14 in a taxi to get there and took about an hour..On the way there the taxi driver said that it had been owned by a few people in the last few years and i can see why.It is defiantly a rubbish location if you are on a short trip.The only good thing about the location is that it has some shops opposite such as Boots and Borders.Since you can get these in the centre or at the metro centre you could probably miss Silverlink out. Reception/staff The entrance to the hotel was very nice,not like a Travelodge at all.When we tried to check in at 2.30 the staff very rudely said that if we wanted to check in before 3 there would be a £10 charge even though it said on the website and in my confirmation email that i could check in from 2.Since i couldn't be bothered arguing i just paid it. Hotel/Room The room was very basic like all Travelodges-Nothing in the room seemed to work.The tv and kettle were broken.They also only gave us one little towel between two. Price This was 15 if you paid in advance so I'm not sure what the normal price is.Okay so this is cheap but you would end up spending a lot more on taxis/buses getting to the centre. Other* I didn't stay there long as i found another hotel but they offered wi fi access and the hotel had plenty of parking.There was a bar where you could get food and drink but this is all the hotel had to offer-there is nothing else to do here. I wouldn't recommend staying here especially if you are on a shopping trip or only there for a few days.It takes far too long to get to other places.

Yelp does not have the restaurant listed separately. 1st the hotel; sparkling clean, newly built. Can't find a negative. Front desk wonderful and attentive. It is located next to the local football stadium, so I am sure it gets a little crazy around game day. We stayed here 5 days without a problem. It is a little bit of a walk from the city center but we learned to take the 56 bus to the Sunderland Interchange with the bus stop being a two minute walk from the front door of the hotel. 2nd, the restaurant; This place is bad, bad, bad. They had three chances to get it right and couldn't. It's looks will deceive you. Again, newly built since it is part of the hotel. Very nicely laid out and furnished. After that nothing good can be said. First morning they had a bus tour in. The buffet food trays were empty and none of the help seemed to have a clue. Second morning they couldn't make an omelet, the middle was raw, nasty. When I complain to waitress all she could keep saying is she would get another. I couldn't afford to get salmonella. Third try room service for dinner after a long 14 hr day. Nasty chicken caesar salad featuring wilted lettuce and undercooked chicken. All I can say is don't let the looks of the place fool you. Go to the McDonalds right around the corner if you don't want to be sick.
