Dr. Edwards entered the room, sat and listened to my acne life story from beginning to end. Her genuine concern and determination to provide a lasting solution was so comforting. The initial regimen she subscribed didn't provide the results she was satisfied with, so on the next few visits she tweaked the regimen until she was satisfied with the results. But the visits weren't all about her satisfaction! Dr. Edwards informed me that she was quite the perfectionist and told me to slow her down or say pause if it seemed like she was seeking perfection beyond my comfort zone. As months went by, my face totally cleared up. I've suffered with acne off and on since I was 15 years old and my face has NEVER looked this good. I've had a clear face before, but there would always be bumps under the surface. My complexion is as close to flawless as I've ever experienced. Having been obese since a teenager, body image did not bother me. But I'd seen the medical impact of obese skin folds and immobility in my 80 yr old mother and 85 yr old mother in law. Still, I waited a long time and did a lot of research (I'm a scientist) before deciding to get surgery. I'd lost almost 100 lbs after bariatric surgery in 2018, kept it off through Covid, but hit a wall in 2022. The next step was to remove the excess skin and fat cells that now sagged heavily, further emphasizing decades of stretch marks and multiple c-section scars. Based on photos of his prior patients, I found his work to be exactly what I was looking for and after our in-person meeting, I did feel comfortable to proceed. I had the procedure done in the beginning of October, the recovery process was much more intense than I had thought. A week after my procedure, I had a follow-up check up, after waking up at 4:00am and driving 3 hours, Dr. Magge did not meet with me, his assistant did. Had I known that would be the case, I would have done a video conference call. She said everything looked fine. After 3 weeks, I still had severe bruising and was swollen. I also noticed one of my eyes were droopy and it was the opposite eye of my eye that actually did droop all of my life. I called the office to ask if the healing process was normal and they said it was. When I mentioned it to the assistant, she had mentioned a "push-up" method but said Dr. Magge would let me know if I should try and he never did. Also, there is a scar of when he did the procedure, not on my eyelid but underneath. I have been using scar medication every day for 2 months to try and make it less visible. The scars are not horrible but def. noticeable. It's a 'light' noticable line scarring under the eyes. They were supposed to reach out after 3 months to see if extra fat graphing was needed or any revisions and have yet to hear back. They never reached out to see if i was okay or even satisfied w/ the work done AFTER I was fully healed. My eyelid healed with a funny shape. The pinch method only seem to work on one eye hence the drooping lower eyelid. I feel I need to wear eyelash extensions all the time so my eyes look even. I do believe in the future I will need a revision. I am disappointed, I had hoped this practice would have been what I had needed to assist with this issue that had bothered me for so long. I wished they had been more comforting and had followed-up. Unfortunately I do not recommend this practice for eyelid procedures. However Megan Love is awesome! The medical assistant was friendly and speedy. She took my information and I waited about 5 mins inside the room for Dr Cohen. He introduced himself as Barry and his bedside manner was kind and understanding. I immediately understood that he had been a doctor for years because his confidence exceeded the words he was using. Dr Mark E Richards' work was so bad they tried to make me sign an NDA. I had 4 facial threads…read moreplaced by the doctor, not even a week after the procedure 1 noticed they were buckling and rippling in my face. I came in for a revision and was told by Dr Mark E Richards and this staff that "this happens to one in a million patients." When I asked if the thread would need to be removed I was told that removing the thread wouldn't be done because it rips at the connective tissue and removing the thread would not allow me the collagen reproduction benefits that are supposed to take place over the course of a year. After implying I somehow was to blame for the thread protrusion, the doctor cut what he called the excess thread. He mentioned again how rare of an occurrence this was, and sent me on my way. Not even a week later the thread was jetting out again from my face. I reached out and was told that Dr Mark E Richards was on vacation so l had to wait another week with my face disfigured before having the thread corrected, for the second time... A week later, I was allowed to come in for the 2nd correction of this alleged "one patient in a million" issue. During this second revision, after ripping and digging into my face with an inadequate amount of numbing agent, the doctor completely removed the thread. Meaning that not only would I not be receiving the collagen reproductive but I was getting 1 less than what I paid for. I mentioned as much and that's when all of Dr Mark E Richards false niceties went out the window. After arguing me down I was given a document to sign. (See the attached photos.) I won't just sign anything without reading through it first, a fact that Laura, a staff member (pictured) seemed very put off about so far as to remark to the receptionist " well I guess I won't be making my palates class tonight." As I read through the document I discovered the doctor had given me an NDA to sign. When I questioned this I was told it was standard procedure when a patient is unsatisfied with the work. I refused to sign. The experience I had with Dr Mark E Richards was horrible from start to finish. 1 wish I would have paid closer attention to his facial procedure reviews on realself.com. If I'd done so I would have saved myself from disfigurement at his hands. His work is sloppy and he and his staff are rude. If you value your results please do not go to Dr Mark E Richards! I had a great experience with Dr. Kravitz when I visited in April of 2024. So I actually flew in…read morefrom Florida because the all in cost was literally half what it would cost me to have it done locally. I had already been diagnosed with a left inguinal hernia before making the trip and I flew in the night before surgery. I came in the next morning and Dr. Kravitz explained in detail the procedure and answered all of the questions that I had. I was a little concerned about this being an open surgery vs laparoscopic based on things that I had read about the recovery being longer but when he explained that it was actually better it put my mind at ease. I was already committed to doing it anyways but it was reassuring to hear. Because of the fact that I was doing the operation on the same day of the consultation it was actually Dr. Lawrence Starin who did the operation a few hours after my meeting with Dr. Kravitz. I knew this going in and I had no issues with it because he had great reviews as well. Everything with the pre-surgery routine was seamless and I got to speak with Dr. Starin for a few minutes before I was put under for surgery. He was very friendly and open to talk with and I knew I would be in great hands under his care. When I woke up I was feeling pretty good and didn't have any pain at all because of the meds that I was on. It wasn't until that night when the pain killers wore off that I started to feel some real pain and it definitely wasn't fun but I would say it was manageable for most people. I ended up flying home early the next morning about 14 hours after surgery. I was a little nervous about this because I had been told that flying so quickly after surgery is a bad idea but it ended up being fine. I even drove home from the airport which was about an hour from my house and I managed to do it without much issue. I wouldn't necessarily recommend going this route but if you have a tight schedule to make everything work I'd say go for it if it helps you save thousands of dollars like I did. As for my overall recovery I'm extremely pleased with how everything went. There was some pain and numbness in the weeks following but I did my best to take it easy to make sure my recovery went smoothly. Because I was long distance traveling and in and out very quickly I didn't have the opportunity to have any kind of post surgery check up but Dr. Kravitz did call me a week after surgery to check up on me which I appreciated. As of writing this it's been about 4 months and I've been completely back to normal for probably about 2 months. Overall everything went about as well as I could have hoped and I highly recommend both Dr. Alan Kravitz and Dr. Lawrence Starin to anybody who is on the fence. Wendee, their assistant, was also very helpful in setting everything up and answering my questions.
