As expected, this place has classic sophisticated decorations with a giant mirror completely covering one wall and seats. It's not a very big space, but it's not small either. Now, to their selection. They always have brands that you've never heard of (and sometimes ones that you have heard of) but their products are almost always leather, and always comfortable and interesting. They have a range of most things that are in style at any given time, along with some beautiful handbags for the enthusiast. Naturally, this place is not very cheap. I've pretty expensive shoes around upwards of 200 here, but also less expensive things, although if you're really looking for something economic, I wouldn't really recommend this place. That being said, this place works admirably well in Gràcia, and is a beautiful addition an area full of other great stores.

A decade and change ago I fell into my cult following of this brand while walking off my jet lag in Barcelona. That was when Campers were not widely available beyond Spain and you could turn heads with their quirky cool designs. Very few brands wear as well as Campers! This particular store, while not situated in the founding environs of Majorca, comes pretty close to a religious experience. The entire season's line for both men and women is well stocked and ready and waiting for you. The staff here are wonderful! They have kept me shod and filled my shopping lists all while being charming.

Growold offers a range of sophisticated but casual international labels like WeMoto, Rhythm, Fjällräven, Native Youth, Penfield, Captain Fin, Poler, Nixon, and many more. Although the store specializes in menswear, there are a lot of rad accessories available for women like Pacific & Co. & Stance socks, House of Marley headphones, bad ass backpacks, etc. The guys told me that they plan on launching their eponymous clothing label next Spring, so I'm looking forward to seeing that new collection. Even better, they plan on opening an annex shop early next year to rent cruisers and skateboards.

I found this place because they carry a brand I love, Pep Monjo (p.monjo). They run about $400/pair in the USA but are about $200-240 euros here, plus tax back if you aren't a resident, so a significant savings on something if you're going to buy it anyway. They also carry Chie Mihara shoes and other brands less common in the USA. They have always had sufficient stock in my size when I've come--twice now, once in April and again today, and if you appreciate finely made footwear that is both beautiful and comfortable, I highly recommend making a detour. They have another location elsewhere in the city, to the north, but still quite close to the city center, near the Fontarra metro stop.

The sales people were friendly and helpful for the most part. I don't know much about Toni Pons shoes and whether they are good or not. I ended up buying 3 pairs, so we'll see how it goes after I wear them a while! Note that there are 3 locations of this store, all quite close to each other. One in El Born, one in Barri Gotic, and I forget the other. You can find it on their website. I went to 2 of the stores and they had almost exactly the same stock. (The other store--not the one this review is for--was empty!) After buying a pair, I changed my mind and went back the next day to exchange them for something else. I don't believe you can RETURN items, only exchange. So keep that in mind. Use the Yelp checkin for a free tiny espadrille keychain. :)

I say "unfortunately," because I purchased a gorgeous pair of espadrille wedges for just 79 euros (and Toni Pons retails for double the price in the US), and I'm so happy with the style + comfort level of this shoe! I only wish I had had more room in my suitcase to purchase at least one additional pair. Prior to visiting the Toni Pons store, I had gone to the famous La Manual Alpargatera store about a block or so away, hoping to purchase one of their famous espadrilles. Service was extremely poor there and it was very crowded, and I left without buying anything. The Toni Pons store caught my eye and fortunately I went in. While the store is also busy, it wasn't crazy chaotic like the La Manual store was, and service was actually helpful and decently friendly. The shoes at Toni Pons were also much more stylish than La Manual and there were many more choices, especially in leather! (I much prefer shoes with leather vs. canvas linings since leather helps my feet breathe.) I like my espadrilles so much that I just bought two more online at their online store. While I unfortunately I have to pay shipping, it's still much cheaper to buy it at their online store than via US retailers like Nordstrom or Zappos, who charge literally double the price. Highly recommend this store!
