This is a great historical site, even though it is a recreation. It's still a lot of fun to see…read morePA's founder William Penn's dwellings as they might have been. The visitor center sells the tickets, has a gift shop, and quite a thorough exhibit on William Penn and his decision to found a colony and the influences behind how he ran it, including his conversion to Quakerism. The house itself has tours regularly, and our tour group was pretty big. They have evidence of the foundation and recreated his summer house based on multiple sources, and the house has a different vibe than something from the colonial area around a hundred years later. You can see a simpler and English-inspired architecture with dark wooden interiors and focus on basic metal and wooden furnishings. The tour passes through the more public rooms, the bedrooms, and the kitchen where the tour finishes. The tour guide did seem to have a particular interest in herbs that were used medicinally at the time. The overall information was interesting to learn about Penn, his family, and life at the time. On site, they also had a few reenactor tradespeople, including a joiner, two weavers, and two blacksmiths. They were all very enthusiastic about answering questions on their crafts. There is also a garden to walk through and some livestock. Between the indoor and outdoor exhibits, it was a really thorough site with different things for everyone to enjoy.

I went to Pennsybury manor on a field trip as a chaperone…read more The manor is the place where William Penn stayed for a short time. You can see vegetable gardens, a barn, a wooden boat, a kitchen, and a guy squashing apples to make cider. (Kids love that). There is also a little workshop where a guy does woodworking. Another guy was carving a log into a canoe. There is a gift shoppe which sells pencils and stuffed animals, if you can't find one at the local discount mart in your neighborhood and have a paucity of these in your bedroom. There is also a tour of the mansion. It has no lights. It is not original but recreated to perhaps be like the original. There is also a outhouse adjacent to this structure, but people are prohibited from making deposits in it.

One of Philly's many hidden gems!…read more After googling events happening this weekend I saw an exhibit for Rashaad Newsome - "To Be Real" was on display at the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center... I'm always looking for something new, interesting and mentally stimulating so decided to check it out and was impressed. Let me start by saying this space is beautiful! My niece and I were greeted upon entering and were given a brief overview of the exhibit. The exhibit itself was rich in color and concept and very unique. There was no admission to see the exhibit but donations are welcome (tip: DONATE!) - donation is not mandatory but I'm a firm believer that arts and culture help expand and enrich our experiences and are also great for conversation. In addition to seeing the feature exhibit, there was a hallway with more art, which lead to another space with another exhibit "Fluid Women" (I think) was the name; this exhibit was captivating also. I had a wonderful experience visiting PPAC and will definitely return! I also recommend if you have an interest in visual arts and are looking for something unique. The space was quiet and it is not large but has a lot to offer.

This place is excellent. I'm an amateur photographer and I have come here for multiple workshops…read morebecause the education, the teachers, and the facilities are excellent. In terms of those workshops you can find them for about $30 on Groupon or LivingSocial and the classes are intimate enough with about seven people or less that you really can get the individual attention that really makes for an excellent experience. In fact you will get that personal attention because the teacher incorporates each student and politely requests that they offer their work for light critique. There are opportunities in every class for you to go outside and practice what you just learned by shooting on the surrounding streets. My only criticism regarding the workshops is that they are not as frequent as I would like as my weekend work schedule conflicts often times with their classes. This next section is about the print center and I've had nothing but a phenomenal experience there. I was completely new to Printing and Keith the master printer who runs the lab made an appointment and sat with me for about an hour to basically guide me through the entire process, give his suggestions, and work Photoshop to get the photos exactly as I want them. He has a profound amount of experience that he draws from and is completely understanding that I am a brand new printer. He even gave me recommendations for where to get my photos framed and was just a brilliant lead in the entire process of printing my photographs. I'll definitely come back and I will recommend it to you because they do have excellent facilities, friendly workers, and a wealth of experience. The actual building itself is quite large and I believe it's shared with some other organizations. Philadelphia photo Arts Center does have a classroom or two and a nice gallery to present whatever work they choose. Getting here is very convenient as I take the subway from Center City and walk about 10 minutes. If you were to drive there's plenty of parking and it does not seem packed the numerous times I've been there.

Authentic. No cards. No crystal ball. No weird stuff. Genuine…read more Be patient with her. She is kind and personable. She may get off the topic some with life but, you can bring her back to your concerns. She's talkative and personable. During my visit mid-conversation, she asked me, "who is talking behind your back? Women. 2 of them. Something's going on. Dont worry about them though. They dont mean you good but, they can't harm or stop you." The very next day, I went to work, and for sure my manager called me into the office with another manager to have a talk. They were trying to find something to trouble me. From a pic I showed her of my grandmothers who are deceased, she described their characters precisely. She connected well. I look forward to see what else unfolds in the future. She described very distinctive characteristics/personality traits of my two sons. She was correct w each one. That was interesting because she hadn't met them before. She was recommended by a neighbor who swore by her in regards to detailed info coming true. She gave me paper to take notes and she wrote down what she w she seeing and gave it to me to take home. My advice definitely take your own notes lots of them. Her notes are more keywords that might spark a memory of your session.

It seems like she could not understand my direct questions at all. She only seemed to agree with me and not give predictions. Her answers seemed rather opinionated.
