The actual massage did not begin until around 1:10 PM, and by the time she told me we were finished and left the room, it was around 1:50 PM. Because of this, I felt that I received closer to a 40-minute massage rather than the full 60 minutes that I had paid for. Mariah was very nice and sweet, but unfortunately, the overall experience was not as relaxing or fulfilling as I had hoped. She spent a significant amount of time talking and seemed to focus on the same area for what felt like almost 20 minutes. I had specifically mentioned which areas I wanted her to focus on, but I also requested an overall full-body massage. My arms were not massaged at all, and I had to ask her to massage the backs of my legs when I noticed that she was planning to massage only my feet after finishing my back. She also mentioned that she would show me some pressure points that could help with lymphatic drainage, but that never happened. That may have contributed to my confusion about whether the full massage time had been completed. However, when I looked at the time, it was clear that the appointment ended before 2:00 PM. When I asked her to massage my legs, I also felt that there wasn't much pressure or technique involved--it felt more like lotion was simply being rubbed onto my legs and feet. Unfortunately, the massage itself was not very relaxing for me. I want to emphasize that Mariah was very kind and pleasant. My disappointment is not with her personality, but with the overall service and the amount of time and attention I received for the 60-minute massage I paid for. I left feeling that I did not receive the full service I had expected. For that reason, unfortunately, I will not be returning.

I like the ones who have the strength or ability to use leverage to really work the knotted and hardened muscles until they are loose. I like when they can identify the trigger points that are the key to releasing the tension in my muscles. I like my massage therapist to be very knowledgable about the body and the causes and solutions to my issues, with the ability to communicate with me about that. I have had a few massage therapists over the years who have met all of my standards, but none as well as Ashlee. On every point, she blows them all away! I mess my body up, and Ashlee fixes it. That's what I want from my massage therapist. I have had very serious issues that she has solved. I am so grateful for her! Those are the criteria on which I judge a massage therapist, but there are other bonuses as well for me with Ashlee. She does several things to the environment that seem designed to play in with the body work she is doing to create the optimal state of relaxation and peace to aid in getting the results she gets. She provides a steady stream of wonderful scents that just delight me. I wouldn't expect it, nor seek it out, but it is really wonderful, like an olfactory amusement park. And none of them adversely affect my asthma. The music is perfect. And last time when I was done and getting ready, I looked around the beautiful room and noticed that wherever my eyes landed was beauty, like a Zeffirelli film where any frame you stop on is like a perfectly-composed painting. Ashlee is really a master at this, on a level beyond any I have known. A tip: She has a treatment where she works on my whole body, giving a little extra attention to certain areas that are bothering me, and she has another treatment, which she calls "structural" where she solves the deep muscular-skeletal issues. I had a kink in my neck for two weeks, and she helped work out the knots so my chiropractor could finally adjust my cervical area back into alignment. She really went deep to work out my locked up upper back. Her communication was always clear, and I was able to breathe with her during the deep work to help release the knots. I felt comfortable being silent at times, as well as talking during my treatment. The entire experience had me feeling very 'at home,' I'm so glad she was able to get me in!
