Kai-Kai Farm - Beautiful Settings and Lighting

The owner lady, Diane, was marvelous in telling us all about her clean farming methods, companion crop planting, good stewardship of the earth, how she came to have this 40 (?) acre farm. The tour was very interesting and tasty, as she let us try the different greens that are grown there. After the tour, we settled down for a delightful lunch prepared by the chef from a nearby restaurant named Ellies Cafe (?). Started with Butternut squash soup, which I am not usually a fan of any squash soups, but it was great, served with a freshly baked crouton. Then we had a chicken breast with a wonderful sauce, and a bean salad, broccolini salad that was superb, and a tossed mixed green salad with watermelon radish. It was all so good, that I had to clean my plate... absolutely had to. After that, we were treated to a dessert of a 2 layer cake made with fresh raspberries and strawberries and a whip cream like frosting. All the components of our lunch (except maybe the chicken, I think) were grown at KaiKai Farms. Before we left, we had a chance to purchase some fresh produce and local honey that they also have. I prepared the broccolini the next night and it was marvelous. The drive out to KaiKai is not too bad, I actually arrived there in less time than I thought. They have a farmers market every Saturday from 8:30 am until 1:30 pm. Definitely check out their website or facebook page as they have chef curated dinners (from local restaurants) scheduled that I am sure are well worth the drive. You can also have events like weddings and parties there. I will definitely go back.

The interior storefront is part ice cream store, part candy shop, and part open seating. It connects directly to Bambini's pizzeria, which is takeout only. However, the open seating is the perfect spot to eat that pizza. Old fashioned looking booths and tables are made even more fun with a ceiling full of vintage toys and interesting items. My kids spent the whole time pointing at things they saw. In the front, there is a table with paper products and pizza fixings. You don't have to eat inside though - there is also eating outside. A small backdoor is the secret entrance to their amazing backyard space- full of tropical plants, statues, some covered tables (although not covered during heavy rain). To go beyond this, you must pay a fee- to see their animals. A very old school florida spot! It was raining so we weren't able to go this time, but my kids loved looking at all the vintage things and drooling over a million candies, that it was fun just being there.

What began as a small shop with local jellies, ice cream, and fruit is now a fun attraction complete with animal experiences! When you first enter, you are brought to a classic ice cream shop. There are delicious flavors of ice cream along with little souvenirs that are sure to grab children's attention. To the right is their pizza shop, which I haven't tried but always seems to have a line of people waiting so it must be good! Out back is where the real magic happens. It's like walking through the Narnia wardrobe. There are several areas for dining outdoors , a smoothie shop, a train ride, and a GIANT area to walk through in using all types of animals . The have goats roaming, highland cows, bird experiences, bunnies, pigs, and turkeys!!! You do have to pay to enter, but it's a small price for all that is offered. They also have food available to purchase so you can feed the animals. I recommend grabbing the veggies bucket because the goats roaming around LOVE the veggies and are very friendly with kids!!! They also offer a petting area where kids are able to interact with bunnies, pigs and goats. There is something to do for kids and adults of all ages!!!!!!!!!!

From homemade soap, lip baum and lotions to goat milk and fresh eggs, they are sure to become a fast favorite. "Tropical Monkey Farts," "Rugged," and "Hey Dude" - they are among the soap favorites at home. As for lip baum, it's Juicy Mango and Vanilla. Carlsward Farms has a number of different varieties to chose from. They are also "holiday" specific depending on the time of year. My youngest daughter and I recently visited Carlsward Farms itself and she wanted to adopt one of the Nigerian dwarf goats. I'm like, "no, Rebecca - we aren't adopting any goats." As for the farm, the Brown family homestead has been around for decades. From dairy goats, chickens and other farm animals - to freshly grown vegetables - it's a cool place to visit. Five stars to Carlsward Farms in Vero Beach. A small family business that deserves some attention. William E. Lewis Jr. Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

I have suffered from osteoarthritis for several years, have bulging discs and spend most days in pain. I am going to bed without my heating pad. I Can't remember the last time that happened. To be in constant pain every day and then to suddenly be pain free is something I'm still trying to believe. If you have pain of any kind you have to try this. I can't believe how fast and how well it works. Pain free without heat or medication, it's miraculous.

**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more Countryside Family Farms (which I will shorthand simply to Countryside for the remainder of this review), has been a staple farm for numerous produce, especially oranges and strawberries. For five generations, Countryside has provided much produce, including ruby red grapefruit, Florida oranges, honeybell tangelos, and tangerines. Sadly, the current head matriacrch of the family passed on just last year, and from what I was told, Countryside is figuring out what they will do next. Ergo, when Heather, her kids, and I went here a couple of months ago, we did not get the full experience. And to be fair, I understand and I hope Countryside is able to move onward from this monumental and sad event. Despite this, Countryside was still open to the public, albeit the areas open to the public and the Countryside Store. For this, I give Countryside much respect. And thankfully, my crew thoroughly enjoyed what was available to them at the time. For starters, the Countrywide Store has a wide array of unique items, primarily manmade crafts, homestyle candies and treats, and produce from their farm. They also have pre-made jams and jellies, and juices. The one store item that stood out to me was their flavored soft serve ice cream. Delicious! As for the outdoor area that's remained open to the public, not really much going on, but it is all beautiful. There is a large lake in which you can see right to the bottom. True the lake is kinda shallow, but it is still beautiful. There is a little pier you can walk out on too. Sadly, the bridge over the small river was closed off. There are some cutouts for picture-taking, tables for dining, and photo-ops with a classic produce truck and tractor trailer, but that is about it. Still, it should be noted this is more than enough for a farm dedicated to families and children, especially with the "touristy part" being free to enter. It should also be noted that Countryside Family Farms is one of the locations in the Treasure Coast Kid's Quest, specifically the Indian River leg of the quest. Maybe there is more to do when it is at "full operation," but it was still a fun experience nevertheless. Ultimately, I am going to give this initial visit a three out of five stars simply because they are not operating at their optimum. But for what they have, they are a-okay. I will definitely want to come back some day and check Countryside out more when they are established after their loss. But until then, I am thankful for what they could do for us and any others who come, while I also provide my condolensces for their loss.
