This event was A-OK. I've done the Blacklight Run before, so I expected it to be similar, and it…read morewas. I believe registration was $40 + all the tax and service fees, if you waited until the last minute or hadn't happened to snag a promo code. Luckily, we signed up months ago "for free" and ended up paying $12.09 when all was said and done. At that price, you can't complain too much - but I will. First, I'll talk about the good: It was extra affordable with the discount and we were able to get a fun group together. The DJ at the start gets you hyped up and I did appreciate the different bubble stops with the different colors. That was so fun! It's also an easy course, even if the gravel part slows you down. Plus, they had staggered start times and held people back so that it didn't get too congested. The best part was the bubble party at the end. It made me feel like a kid again. The bad: Well, it's super expensive if you don't find the deals. It's most definitely not worth $40 compared to what you'll get at other races for that price. It's quite bare bones and then they nickel and dime you for the rest. For example, $20 cash only parking. This is another reason why going with a group is best. They'll also charge you $5 if you pick-up your packet on the same day. So make sure you read through everything carefully to get an accurate cost estimate on this event. Some other issues included, but are not limited to, a shortage of bathrooms, minimal swag, running out of bubbles at some stations (not sure if that was temporary and needed a refill or if it was completely out and done), and lack of supervision on the course to make sure participants were following instructions. The course is pretty wide and it's supposed to be Walkers to the right, Runners to the left. People were walking 6 deep on the running side and no one was there to correct them. There aren't any mile markers or clocks and one of the hydration stations is on the left side, so it jams up with everyone slowing down or stopping. But, it's really intended to be a Fun "Run" and it's not timed, so I dunno. Don't come to the thing expecting to fly past everyone. At the end of the day, I had a good time with good people. I would have been very disappointed if I'd paid full price, but I'm satisfied with what I got at the discounted rate. If I can score another deal next year then I'd consider returning.

Ferraris, a Lamborghini, Porsches, and some Charger Hellcats for ride-alongside. Having never driven on a racetrack before and with multiple cars on the track, I first did a ride-along with a pro driver to learn the track, understand the cones, and learn the hand signals. Well worth the $80 before my drive. I drove a Ferrari 488 GTB. To use Vivienne's words on "Pretty Woman", "This baby corners like it's on rails!" So smooth and powerful, you hit 120mph and barely feel it. For $429, you get 4 laps around the track in one of the cars. For multiple car experiences, there are package deals. The track was great. Fun curves and some stretches where you can really put the pedal to the metal. Loved this entire experience. 10/10. Would do again. Driving out of the country club going only 30mph after that was hard. It felt comically and yet annoyingly slow

I got there an hour before the drive time. Since there were only 3 of us in our time slot, we skipped the class and did an expedited version of the do's and don'ts. I enjoyed the car and my instructor was good, but I hated the track. I was expecting something like Nascar style or at least some good straightaways. There were too many turns and not enough time to go as fast as I wanted. I only got up to 100 mph. I did that in my regular car on the tollway. If they changed the track for the Joliet location then I would recommend this place. For the amount of money, it was not enough time to really get a feel for the car. You get 3 laps. 1st one was a waste since my instructor was going through everything with me. 2nd one was when I was starting to get the hang of it. In all reality, I just had one really good lap.

Woo Hoo! My 600th review! And I'm pleased to present one of the most fun things I've done this…read moresummer so far. Dirty Girl is a ladies only obstacle mud run. 5K, 12 obstacles. A non-timed event and meant to be a fun run that you can take at your own pace. It was my first obstacle run and I loved that it was girls only--I ran with a team. I definitely think running this with at least one friend is the way to go. I've done regular 5K's by myself, but it's great having someone supporting you as you climb, crawl and slide. And who else is going to tell you that you still have mud on your face when you're still trying to clean up after the run? The obstacles were not hard physically. But once the day gets started the obstacles get muddier and more slippery. So the hardest one for me was the high cargo net climb, just because of my fear of falling onto hard gravel. Other than that, they were just fun climbs and crawls. Other than running, I trained for this by following my toddler through several playground equipment obstacles and I was just fine. Hahaha. This event was held at the Lake County Fairgrounds and although a few of us on our team tried to run as much as we could to challenge ourselves, some of the areas were not easy to run opon. The grassy areas were fine, but there was some gravel-twist-your-ankle-type areas. So walking was inevitable. They suggest arriving there 90 minutes before your start time. Check in was a breeze and we had a lot of down time before hand. But it was nice to get pics done in our clean team shirts before we got all messy. I loved my swag--t shirt and bracelet with a running girl charm. There was a secure bag check and a "shower area' for us afterward. I use shower loosely as it's just a bunch of hoses and cold water--but the tent is huge and although by the afternoon the ground is full of puddles, but I appreciated the astro turf they did lay down to prevent muddy puddles. Some of my observations: I don't know how full the heats get, but I'm glad we got there early because we got to start 20 min earlier than our team start time. Bring some water in a gallon jug and check it in with your bag. It was nice to have some clean water immediately after the race to clean my hands and wash my face since I was getting mud in my eyes. Don't wear anything you are worried about ruining. Even though we wore matching T-shirts, I knew they'd get muddy so we made sure the shirts were not too expensive. Budget some time for the after party. Paul Mitchell was one of the sponsors and they were fixing hair afterward. Have Fun!

Ran this race this morning and loved it!…read more I have to admit though, things didn't start off looking so good. The exit our GPS told us to take on 55 was closed and the alternative route ended up being closed and we spent an extra half an hour driving in circles trying to find the place. We pulled into the lot - that has a $10 parking fee just to park in an empty gravel parkway....and there was almost no activity going on at the race site. It looked like the day was going to be a total bust. But then..... We started our run and found that the obstacles were in fact split up amongst the course, not all grouped one after the other like it appeared from the starting line. We ran up and down hills, around banked turns, and on and off fields. There were muddy patches, there were dry patches, but basically this was typical 5K fare. The obstacles were where this run really shined. They were all so unique and fun. You had to approach each with a quick strategy chat with your partner, because they all depended on team work and timing. You got to climb walls, traverse water obstacles, and swing from monkey bars. Each obstacle was different from the last and each provided a new and interesting twist to keep things fun. I have done a good handful of "mud runs" in the last year and they are often filled with glorified 'over under' obstacles. The only thing that changes is what your going over or under. Not the case this time. It's hard to pick which obstacle was the best or the most fun. They were all good in different ways. If you couldn't complete an obstacle, you had to pay the penalty - a partner carry! Either you or your partner has to give the other a piggy back ride for a decent distance until you cross the flag line before you can begin making your way to the next obstacle. Great idea! The only down side to this is that more likely than not, one partner will weigh more than the other partner - so that one person is clearly the designated carry-er and one person is the designated carry-ee. Perhaps they can think of a way to make it more fair so the lighter person isn't just a burden for any penalties. If I had to make any changes though - it would definitely be to offer an area to hose down and change into clean clothes after your run. Driving an hour home in marshy water soaked undies was not my favorite part of the day ;)

I'd love to have individual ticket seating on the second floor but those are Suite seats. That area is actually really beautiful upon accidently stumbling in there. Very clean restrooms. Plenty of amentites for families to be entertained. Quick games that have been quick as 2 hours. Much more enjoyable with better interactions than an MLB game that cost as much as nosebleeds at a Sox Game.
