Recently took a book making class and was looking for presents and for some notebooks for myself…read more I am retired daily newspaper editor and photojournalist and always looking for neat notebooks to jot notes or give as gifts to fellow jotters. And I came across a nice selection and got a cork covered one which was very unique. There was a good selection of women's clothes and other local items. I like scarves. I have a collection of football ones, keffiyehs, and others scarves that keep dust out of my faces as well as provide warmth on our chilly mountains morns. There was one scarf that was brown and kinda natural colors that I added to my collection. This store is like so many little niche tiendas in San Miguel where there are an array of products, friendly staff and good vibes.

They have operated this store here for ages and have an impeccable reputation among locals and gringos alike. If you walk into the store, don't stop at the front. There is room after room of quality clothing. Each room is a fresh surprise. Again, the best honest and most helpful people ever! (I just did all my Christmas shopping here!)

So months ago, while browsing photos from Guanajuato, I found a picture on Instagram of a pair of…read moreshoes and I wanted them -- nah, NEEDED THEM. I put one item on my "Must Do in Guanajuato" list: find those shoes and buy them. Thanks to Yelp, I was pointed in the right direction once we arrived in GTO months later. We made the trek down to the store and I crossed my fingers that they had the shoes I wanted. Not only did they have the ones I wanted, they also had several other pairs I wanted as well. However, sadly, I'm a tall girl which means I have much bigger feet than the average Mexican woman. Luckily the pair of shoes I'd been on a quest to find came in a maximum size that fit my monster feet (size 9, which fit my size 9.5-10 feets). To make it even better, they only cost about $13 USD for a beautiful pair of genuine leather woven flats. I tried to browse for more shoes, but only a few went up to size 9 so I was SOL on getting any other pairs. Oh well. I got what I came for and I couldn't have been happier. Fairy tales do come true, my friends!
