Tyson is great! An incredible teacher!!…read more I'm a beginner ukulele player who has a goal of leveraging my past experience singing with hopefully feeling confident enough to play with my uke someday. Tyson is super flexible, able to tailor every lesson to your individual needs and growth patterns. It's clear Tyson is a sensitive person who gets people and has a remarkable way of never making you feel inadequate. He's not only a great coach and teacher but makes the lesson fun! Every time I leave my ukulele lesson I feel a little bit more confidence then I arrived with, also heading home with things to work on that he's kindly written down for me to practice on and easy ways of remembering. I'm really stoked to have met Tyson and I hope you give him a try as you won't regret a single moment spent.

We always knew she had vocal talent, but she had no formal training and under Kate's direction she has flourished. Kate is extremely positive and nurturing which has really helped my daughter come out of her shell and take risks to audition, perform solos, etc. Kate is also a dream to deal with from a parent perspective - lessons are at your own home and she's very forgiving with our constantly changing schedule. I would highly recommend Kate for children and adults, regardless of your vocal aspirations.

My husband found Kate on Craiglist as we were looking for a vocals teacher for our middle school…read moreaged daughter, as she was preparing a number for the school talent show. I used to sing when in high school and college and my husband is also very musical, but we were struggling with working with our daughter on her vocals, as she just was not as open to feedback from us (I'm sure other parents can relate!), so we figured a teacher would be better. Our daughter immediately clicked with Kate and just LOVED working with her from the start. Kate has helped her make incredible strides in her vocal ability over the last year, bringing her true voice out! In fact, she just finished her performance as one of the leads in the school musical Once on This Island (see photo posted by Kate), and I'm certain that her work with Kate made a big difference! Kate has also acted as a life coach (my daughter's description, not mine!) as she's helped her work through times when she was lacking confidence or second guessing herself in her song selections. Not only is Kate a fantastic vocals teacher, but she's also a wonderful person that we have all come to adore and consider a friend! I can't recommend her enough.

As a parent, I really appreciate that she shares detailed notes after every class with specific practice instructions. It makes our daily practice sessions at home much more effective and manageable. The regular studio recitals every six months are also a highlight--they have been incredibly helpful for building Luke's confidence and performance experience. Highly recommended!

Ms. Lee is an outstanding piano teacher. My 9-year-old expressed interest in studying piano over…read moreone year ago, and Ms. Lee was the perfect first teacher! As a former piano minor in college, I was very picky. I had "tried out" several other piano teachers for my daughter. Ultimately, I chose Ms. Lee because of her warmth, her gentle, encouraging approach, and her attention to teaching the fundamentals (correct form, posture, theory, etc). My daughter loved her and looked forward to each lesson. Even though she played "simple" pieces, they were always fun and interesting. They kept her engaged and willing to practice. What I loved is that Ms. Lee also developed her musicality and her appreciation of music. I was impressed at how much my daughter advanced in a short period of time. Unfortunately, we moved out of the area, but she graciously continued her lessons virtually until we found a new teacher. As a parent, I loved how she was so communicative with the parents and how organized she was (e.g. Google doc notes for every lesson, online theory practice, easy invoicing for payments, studio classes, makeup lessons, and recitals). Not all teachers are so organized (I have three kids who all play instruments), and I appreciated how easy it was to work with her. And... Ms. Lee also still performs, too, with local Bay Area groups - she plays beautifully, always performing at the recitals. She's an amazing teacher, and my daughter (and I) were really sad to leave her. Thank you for everything, Ms. Lee!

This review is for Amber's Free Your Voice 10 week program…read more I discovered the joy of chanting in yoga classes and kirtan, and for a while had been curious to develop confidence and fluency in my vocal expression. I was also curious how developing my vocal expression might encourage me to say what's on my mind more often! When I learned Amber was offering the 10 week Free Your Voice program, I had never met her, but I had already heard rave regard for her from several separate friends in my yoga community. I registered for the program without any hesitation. It felt great to be so clear about it! Amber's programs are one of the few places you can go to make noise and stomp your feet without attracting concerned citizens. I treasure the activities that provided a safe space for self-connection and expression. I felt healing being witnessed with rapt attention by Amber and others in the group. I felt rooted with a sense of place from connecting with traditions. This is such a great way to spend your time and stretch and grow your expression. Drawing and improv classes are great too, but *Free Your Voice* will only be around as long as Amber offers it or trains others to do so!

It is so fun, so freeing and it will open up your voice in ways you never imagined. You'll feel vulnerable, a bit insecure - that is natural! But over time, you will be released and freed! You'll be in a group of people who feel the same way, and you'll bond and get to a point of comfort to let yourself go. Amber is patient and lets you explore your voice, yourself, and relationships with others through different exercises that will enliven you, stretch you, and challenge you in a good way. Her teaching style is so playful and fun! Give it a try - it was the best thing I did for myself earlier this year, and it helped me through a very poignant point in my life and career. I also took her djembe and singing class this year! I had minimal experience playing taiko drums, so no drumming experience is necessary. It was such a release to play djembe, expressing myself this way and through continued voice. I bought a decent djembe for about $50 from the Guitar Center. She sends you YouTube links to practice along with, and I still play it to this day. Loved this class too! I made good friends in both classes whom I still keep in touch with. We are forever bonded, and I am a part of Amber's circle. Amber is also in a 4-person band called Echo. If you have a chance to catch one of their shows, you definitely should! Such a great sound with varying international instruments plus they are playfully interactive. Go, Amber, go Echo!

Lori is like a Disney princess (in all the good ways)...always cheerful, animated, beautiful and sings like a dream! Tuesday she attended her second class with Lori, who is an excellent teacher, and is already starting to sing along and tries to mimic Ms. Lori. Today as we were walking she started singing the teddy bear song and yesterday she pulled out her book and sticks and pretended like she was singing. Later on I started singing another song and she instantly did the hand motions. I can't wait to see her evolve musically through the next few years as she learns from someone as talented as the Lori. I also love the parent participation. In our busy lives it is nice to have a short period of time to stop and spend some quality time with my kids. I love watching her as she explores the different things musically, I wish I could have put my older son into something like this when he was her age.
