We engaged Robin as a dual agent for a home rental in Sawtell. Although he presents as personable and charming, his conduct was self-serving, negligent, and unprofessional. He had a long-standing relationship with the property owner and did not represent our interests fairly or adequately. When serious issues arose, he attempted to deflect responsibility, and I had to remind him that, as a dual agent, he was obligated to represent us as well.
The concerns were significant, not minor. There was clear evidence of pre-existing black mold in the unit (I did not tour the unit prior to renting). During a time when families were urgently seeking housing due to the fires, he pressured us to pay for an additional month before we needed occupancy in order to "secure" the rental, which felt like price gouging under vulnerable circumstances.
We were promised a functioning elevator to assist with our move; however, it was never repaired and remains inoperable nine months later. Robin also attempted to include several contract clauses that did not protect our interests. When my husband proposed a reasonable amendment to legally confirm the final day of the lease, Robin responded dismissively, asking, "Where is the trust?"
Additionally, Robin represents several owners in a row of homes in Sawtell where there is a known and unresolved termite issue. This was not disclosed to us, and instead, he attempted to push a pest control clause to us without transparent communication.
Overall, our experience was deeply disappointing and raised serious concerns about fairness, disclosure, and professional responsibility. read more
