We are VERY disappointed with Calvin Barry's firm. My son had 3 massive, blatant and egregious…read moreviolations of his Charter of Rights, which Calvin's firm chose to over look instead of immediately approaching the crown to have his charges dropped. On top of that, there was video proof of a police officer lying to another police officer about my son; an inconclusive toxicology report; a drug evaluation report that appeared to be cut and pasted because another surname was used in place of my son's surname 4 times in the report; police officer's statement contradicted medical doctor's observations; video of my son's speech was clearly not slow and slurred as per police statement; validated health issues that confirmed exactly what my son told police. Calvin's office never requested my son's proof of insurance to have that charge dropped and never presented an accurate and clear picture to the Crown. To top it off, Calvin's office missed a court date and there was a warrant out for my son's arrest, which was demoralizing, embarassing, a defamation to his character and caused undue stress and duress. My son never even received an apology for this from Calvin's office. After 15 months and a large legal bill, Calvin's office suggests that they received a GREAT OFFER from the crown to drop his charges down to careless driving. We immediately retained a different lawyer, who within 4 DAYS of reviewing my son's case, approached the crown and had ALL CHARGES DROPPED....ALL WITHIN 4 DAYS. The disparity between Calvin's firm working 15 months and getting a careless driving charge, or 4 days after being retained having all charges dropped. I believe that a good job, well done deserves to be acknowledged and praised. However, I also believe that when critical information that could have, and should have, been used in my son's defense is overlooked; court dates are missed and warrants for my son's arrest follows (contributing to additional stress and duress); and a case is dragged on and legal bills mount for 15 months, and then ANOTHER LAW FIRM HAS ALL CHARGES DROPPED WITHIN 4 DAYS....well, this needs to be addressed as well. It is my opinion that the evidence in my son's case was never reviewed thoroughly by Calvin's firm or presently properly to the crown....however we were billed as if it was.

Don't go based on his 5 star reviews, seem to be either fake or friends and family. I contacted…read morethis joke of a lawyer with regards to my brothers case, discussed on call everything and agreed to the price and all. A day before his case I called him to ask if he wants the agreed portion that day, and if not on Saturday as I work. Literally this person agreed and even texted the same. As soon as I hung up, a few hours later he told my brother that they are not going to court as they weren't paid. When I addressed him he said "We are not a charity case don't waste my time". This man wasted a month and the night before the first date he says this crap. I had to scowled to find another lawyer from home. Glad he didn't take the case cause who knows what this man would have done and drained us for more money. I suggest you refrain from going to him, and find a lawyer that will actually care about you and your case and comply with the parameters set, not change them and call you a charity case.
