So happy to have new options for chicken in Gaithersburg that I eagerly anticipated the opening of this place! I stopped by on a Saturday, and it was a clean, inviting atmosphere and the cashier was friendly and gave me great advice about the sauces and spicy levels. I got the honey butter chicken sandwich for my husband, and wings for myself, coleslaw and fries to share. I'll start by saying this: both the sandwich and the wings were cooked and flavored EXCELLENTLY! That honey butter is AMAZING and the spice levels were great. That medium spice was more than enough for my taste. The jalapeno coleslaw was GREAT, and the fries were enough for us to share. My only complaint (and I hesitated to leave this feedback until I went for the second time) is how small the wings are. I think a place that specializes in chicken should offer ample sized wings or at minimum, add an extra wing or two to compensate. After getting wings twice and them being VERY small (although flavorful), I'll not get the wings again but will return for the chicken sandwiches. I don't mind it being pricy if the quality matches and would happily give this place 5 stars once the wings are improved because that is what will keep me coming back. We ordered some take out for dinner tonight. Hubby and I got the Nashville sandwich, medium heat. Great amount of heat, I liked the pickled onions in the slaw and the addition of jalapeño. The bun was soggy, but beyond that things were good. The fries were interesting. Some were very cooked, some under cooked. They were tasty, but needed consistency. My kiddos got club chicken sandwiches and wings. The two that got the clubs said they would try something different next time. Hubby said the sandwich couldn't compare to another place we frequent. Chicken was a little over cooked and dry and the part of having two chicken breasts sounds good, but they are thin and over cooked. I had heard a lot about how their sauces were hot but the medium was not hot. Ordered one order of fries, which is enough for two people and lacked seasoning and were lukewarm. I love me some good fried chicken, but I don't like the big fat pieces of chicken fried and thrown in a bun (i'm looking at you Chik Fil A), and generally most places are good to try once. Roaming Rooster is the only one I go back to. The chicken is cut a bit thinner and fried and then they layer a couple of the chicken pieces in the sandwich (so you get the same amount of chicken as the fat chicken places). I think that, the dressing, and the spice level, makes all the difference. I even get the fried chicken on salad (cole slaw), and its a great cole slaw! read more

Some of the best fried chicken I've had in a long time! Ordered the honey butter sandwich on a recommendation by an employee. The staff is good - personable, real, and you can see they're working hard. Also got some fries and both of the sauces. The sandwich was so clucking good! I can only imagine a breakfast version with a cornbread or sweet potato waffle, a couple bacon strips and some real maple syrup...I'd fall out. Love this place so much! I got the mild buffalo chicken sandwich and I loved it, service was great and the food cooked very quickly. Totally serviceable chicken restaurant! The mild definitely still has some kick, so if you don't like spicy I'm not sure this is the place for you. The sandwiches were hearty and satisfying though. Plenty for lunch. We got the fries too and they were fine. Very similar to Five Guy fries if you'd had those. There are a few tables inside and a fountain soda machine. I ordered 2 sandwiches and some nuggets here with a side of fries. They messed up my order and forgot my nuggets and gave me 2 honey butter sandwiches instead. I dig chicken sandwiches and had high hopes but was let down. The portions are good, so no complaints about that. The flavor just seemed off and just seemed too heavy. The bread wasn't thick enough to hold the chicken and slaw together and it got sloppy real quick. No one in my family liked it, to the degree that most of it went in the trash. In my humble opinion, Roaming Rooster hands down has the best chicken sandwiches in the game. All the other spots might as well just pack up their stores and leave. The one thing that sets RR apart from others is the cut of chicken they use for their sandwiches. Other chicken shops will either use one big girthy piece of chicken or chicken tenders, both of which can be hard to eat. RR on the other hand has two thin, crispy chicken filets they use in each of their sandwich. Not only is it easy to eat but the chicken stays crispy. My go to is Hot Honey Butter and add coleslaw on the side and eat it with each bite. The coleslaw and honey butter cools down the spice just a bit but you can still feel the heat. read more

Came here for the first time after hearing about it for a while. I ordered the Honey Butter Chicken sandwich in the "Hot" spice level. It was /dripping/ in butter when I got it, and that made it pretty difficult to eat. I found the spice level pretty nice- zingy without being over powering. The chicken patty wasn't as crispy as I would like but the bun was nice and fluffy. I would be willing to try again with another type of sandwich at a later date, but overall not my first choice for a chicken sandwich read more

For the price, there isn't enough sauce included with the meal. The chicken sandwich was dry and begging for sauce. We got the honey butter chicken sandwich but don't let the pictures fool you, they put the honey butter sauce on the perimeter of the sandwich to look like you get more sauce than you actually do. Disappointing, dry chicken, no sauce, and pricey. Popeyes chicken sandwich is a much better proportion size, flavor, and price. read more
