Fremlin Walk is a fairly new development in the middle of Maidstone town centre. It has a good…read moreselection of shops - Next, Schuh, River Island, Republic, House of Fraser, Beaverbrooks - to name a few. There's also a few coffee shops dotted up and down the street. My only advice to people shopping here is NOT to park in the underground car park - they charge extortionate prices to park the car. You are better off choosing one of the outside car parks like Brewer Street.

Some great shops inside Chequers including a large Boots, New Look and bhs. Also have a great…read morebutcher, JC Rook and a wide range of other outlets including TJ Hughes, Mark One, Next, Miss Selfridge, Superdrug, Morgan Outlet etc. You can find most things you need and the good thing is it's all under cover so you can shop even if it's pouring. It's in the centre of Maidstone so you are supporting your local economy father than venturing to an out of town shopping centre too.

But I had to pay a surcharge having lost my "car park chip" which I had just paid for by Card, £1.50. Couldn't go back up to the 5th floor to get it, v bad ankle. The boy didn't care, he read from his script. So I paid another £5 just to get out. Bye bye Chequers, I'll give Fremlin Walk a go when my ankle heals up, or maybe Tunbridge Wells.

The top floor has a range of beautiful glassware, crockery and cutlery to suit many tastes, while the rest of the store has, I imagine, literally everything you would need to cook every dish ever invented! Somehow the staff know where everything is, and are always willing to help. Prices are reasonable on the less mainstream items (I have a great set of retro scales that look fab and are functional and were very cheap for what they are) though the more standard items (cake tins, cooling racks) are a little overpriced. Overall a great place to go if you're looking for a present for a foodie or a kitchen gadget-a-holic, or expanding your own collection of elusive cooking equipment.
