We went here because it had rave reviews. Maybe this was an off day, I don't know. My son had pancakes. They were flat, not fluffy, and rubbery. I had a Club Salad which was good, but not the best. Just didn't seem completely fresh. Yet, there was a huge wait line, so maybe we just ordered the wrong things. We were just visiting California, but I also just didn't like the fact that the lady at the next table (which was maybe a foot from us at most) stared at me the whole time we were in the restaurant. Breakfast is just blissful at RJs. We recently moved to the area and found this place via Yelp. Not a bad item on the menu. Service is great considering the crush of people they attend to. Yes, there is a wait. Coffee is available as you wait. But can't complain about waiting in the sunshine for a table. The pancakes.. OMG the pancakes! Had the lox Benedict. we love this place for breakfast when staying in Dana point. We went here two days in a row for breakfast and once for lunch. it was across from our hotel Dana point inn. our recommendations is the the corn beef and hash and turkey melt sandwich and the chickenfried steak with gravy. the lady's that work there are very friendly and service is very speedy. they have a nice patio outside that I recommend and they have heater which is nice early morning. thank you RJS read more

Just ate breakfast at RJ's and was not disappointed. The omelet was great along with the hash browns and coffee. My wife had the cinnamon french toast and she enjoyed it. Service was just a little slow even though they weren't overcrowded. My wife asked for water and never got it. Will definitely return to RJ's. read more

I'm giving this 3 stars but it honesty probably deserves 2... The coffee is TERRIBLE and who wants a breakfast place that has horrible coffee. The owner sat at a table near us and bragged about his "adventures and travels" to a couple I'm assuming he knew. Maybe he should put that money back into purchasing a good quality coffee like Antoines in San Clemente does. Will never return. Not worth it to me and my wife. I'll stick with good breakfast places like "Stacks" in Dana Point or "Antoines" in San Clemente. read more

RJ's Café From the second you step out of your car next you can tell that it's very busy. When you on the campus of the restaurant you can see the nice, shiny and silver tables on the outside of the restaurant; a nice place to sit because there are trees around you which means lots of shade. You can also see the huge line outside the restaurant, which means it's worth the wait because it shows that the food there is great. You step inside and it's not as big but just big enough to get a healthy breakfast or lunch. The counter top is made out of wood, and it's nice and shiny. Above that is the name of the restaurant names made out of bamboo. Around you, you can see African masks, on the walls you there are paintings of boats. Since it's on the Dana Point Harbor Drive, you can go for a quick meal. It's not a fast food restaurant, but its fast and the food is way much better then a fast food restaurant. If you need to use the restroom, as you're walking you are going to see a wall full of pictures of famous people that the owner has met. The seats are very comfortable and bouncy, the tables are nice and clean, and everything organized and set on the table. Everything in that restaurant is fresh, and you can see that it's fresh because just below the name of the restaurant near the counter; there's a window and you can see my dad, and the cooks making your food. RJ's café menu features a variety of delicious items; however there most popular by far is the French toast. The French toast is just a simple French toast, long, 3 layers of French toast, in between them is nice and creamy cream cheese, and on top of that you can have any homemade sauce you want; such as apple, cranberry, mango, and banana sauce. The most popular one is the Apple French Toast. The Apple French toast has a sauce that has slices of apple caramelized with cinnamon, and the apple sauce. When its finishes; its warm, and a little crunchy, the warm cream cheese just melt in your mouth with the French toast and the apple sauce. The Italian omelet is also a breakfast meal you would love to have, it has Italian sausage, homemade marinara, pollen cheese, on the side some home fries. The fries are actually made at that moment! When they come out they are nice and crispy, they don't add salt because they will rather you put some on it and you put as much as you want. This omelet is simple but very delicious , it seem that everything in this restaurant is very simple but there's always add something different to make it very delicious. The club sandwich is also very yummy, it contains crispy bacon, ham, turkey, avocado, tomato, mayonnaise, crunchy lettuce, and buns. Maybe simple but it tastes great! Everything is layered in a perfect pattern. You take one bite and you don't want to stop eating it. It's basically in kabobs so you can take it anywhere. There are so many kinds of drinks, such as different sodas, coffee, ice teas, hot chocolate, beer, water, Champaign, different kinds of juices, lemonade, and different flavors of milk. It's a simple restraint but the food is fantastic! If I could I would everyday, but since I don't have time I make my dad bring some home. Usually I bring the club sandwich to school and all my friends like it. We make plans to go eat there; it's a nice place to go hang out with friends and family. It opens at 6:30a.m- 3p.m. I suggest you go there early because the line gets big, there are other restaurant around Rj's Café but people still wait because that's how great the food it. read more

Had breakfast this am once again at RJ's. I had Heavenly Potatoes with eggs on top, my wife had Feta avocado scramble and my son had French Toast cinnamon roll. Everybody loved there breakfast. Great Diner for typical american cuisine. Freindly service. Can get a little busy on Weekends but they are quick. Affordable and easier to get to then most of the diners on the weekend.
