The church is large enough to make an impact in the community but small enough to feel like a family.

We're looking for that same vibe up here. We finally tried Piedmont yesterday. We went to the 9:30 AM service, and we were warmly greeted by the staff. We needed to check our son into the children's environment, so they walked us to where we needed to be. The church is gorgeous - almost like a mountain lodge. We were surprised to walk in to a sparsely attended service considering the size of the auditorium, and the fact that there are two services (maybe everyone goes to the 11AM?). The music is contemporary, but not as loud as we're used to. Dr. Reighard's message was good, but it was a little long-winded for me (he went over his timer on this particular day). The preaching felt a little more traditional. Our old pastor could speak a compelling message in 30 minutes, so we've gotten to where we really appreciate something concise. After service, they were giving people the opportunity to join life groups, and we noticed there were several tables set up, so they have a large selection of life groups to join. This would be a big plus for us if we were to join. Overall, I have nothing negative to say about our experience. I'm not sure the style of preaching is what we're looking for, but it can be an amazing church home for someone who enjoys something that teeters on the contemporary/traditional line.

I'm not really good on my own, I'm a person who NEEDS community. Grace has not only given me that, but also direction. If you are ANYTHING like me, I would recommend replacing the World with the Word, and in that you WILL find community as well.

It was called the Grace MobilePack (https://give.fmsc.org/campaign/1903-103no-marietta-ga-grace-mobilepack/c211742) and we, together with other community groups (schools, churches, etc.), packed tens of thousands of meals for poor, hungry children around the world. Grace Community Church is located on the north side of Marietta, next to Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield. The church hosted hundreds, maybe even over a thousand, volunteers over two days for the Grace MobilePack event. The church's sanctuary was converted into a temporary meal-packing facility. There, we spent hours packing rice, soy, veggies, and vitamins into Feed My Starving Children branded bags called "MannaPack Rice" (fortified rice and soy blend). We did everything from scooping raw ingredients from bulk to bagging, boxing, and loading completed food packs onto pallets. The pallets would be shipped to those less fortunate in underdeveloped countries. It was quite the operation and fun to participate. We utilized the entire space. Feed My Starving Children also made use of the sanctuary's A/V system to talk to us, show us videos, and play music while we worked. Most volunteer groups only worked one shift in a given day. We worked two shifts, morning and afternoon, so we broke for lunch in one of the church's kids classrooms downstairs. We had food catered in for lunch. Everything went off without a hitch and the church personnel were nice. The church had plenty of parking, not only for volunteers, but for Feed My Starving Children's trailers too. Thanks to Grace Community Church for hosting such a worthy cause.
