Being the parent of an intelligent child that had horrible grades and no motivation was heart breaking, wondering how much he would struggle through his entire life with no direction or purpose. His lowest grade at RMA is higher than what his highest grade was in public school. The relief of a better life for our son and the pride to see him accomplish what we always saw in him is more than I could ever express. Today he walks proudly, speaks with a stronger voice, and has purpose in his life with a plan for his future. I am a 1979 graduate of Riverside and can say without reservation that my success in life is owed to the skills I developed as a young Cadet. After Riverside, I graduated from the Virginia Military Institute and retired from the U.S. Army. I am now a senior manager in a small Defense Contracting company. As a Cadet at Riverside, I developed invaluable leadership and backward planning skills that got me through VMI and my Army career. Riverside turned me from a boy to a man, taught me honor; taught me to be a gentleman. Riverside has changed the lives of both of our boys. The structured environment, outstanding faculty and staff, strong academics, coupled with varsity sports and extracurricular activities have inspired our boys to achieve their full potential and step outside their comfort zone. Our sons no longer give suboptimal effort nor do they drag their feet through the school day. My son has been attending Riverside Military Academy since 9th grade and this year he is in the 11th grade. Prior to attending Riverside his grades were low Bs and Cs. He has matured and his grades are now all As and he is taking AP and honor classes. He was also nominated for National Honor Society and the National Science Honor Society this year. He plays baseball and other sports at RMA. Riverside Military Academy has been the best choice we ever made for our son. Take a minute to watch some of the marching videos, they are amazing.
