The meats and chicken are always generous in size and portion. Although I find that some grocery stores offer many of the same products at lower prices, when it comes to meat, Westmount Halal's product is generally better value and quality. If you don't see something you want, just ask the proprietor; sometimes they have what you want, but not always on display and if they don't have it, they will make a special effort to get it for you.

I put an ice cream in my very obvious grocery bag and turned the aisle, when I noticed the two cashiers--one man who looked fresh out of a midlife crisis, and an older woman who looked jealous I was buying ice cream before 5pm--watching me a little too hard. I grabbed some Chewy Chips Ahoy and saw the man leave his register to trail me, spying down the aisle. I caught on quick and decided I would just pay, because I've noticed Indian people in this store treat me--Caribbean and Black--poorly. But I didn't even reach the counter before the man started yelling, calling me a thief. He went straight to the door, blocking it, pointing at me, saying, "I have you on video, we saw you put it in your bag." I replied, "You mean my grocery bag?" But he kept raising his voice, demanding I pay, as if I hadn't walked in there with gold bracelets on my wrist, a Michael Kors purse on my arm, keys, slides, and a calm demeanor. My reason--I put the ice cream in the bag so it wouldn't melt in my hand--wasn't enough. So I had to pull my last resort. I looked him in the eyes and asked the one question he could never come back from: "Are you racially profiling me? As the only Black person in this store, surrounded by homeless people, I'm the one you accuse of stealing?" He folded instantly. Left the market, ran next door into the vape shop, while the older woman smirked behind the counter like she was enjoying the show. I placed the ice cream and cookies on the counter and walked away, but not without letting her know exactly how insulting it is to accuse a loyal customer of theft. Being accused like that hurts deeply. I live in the area and I always have shopped there, not at that time of day usually but it shows exactly where their priorities and prejudices lie.

It's just like any other LCBO, though it's bigger than you think. For fanshawe students, take the 4 and get off at Gammage! I remember when I was new to London, and I was looking for this one, the store manager told me it was in Bellwoods Plaza. I got on the bus and asked the driver if he knew where that was, and he looked confused. So remember, its right across from the Superstore :)
