I've had a lot of experience with this type of facility and this one is absolutely the best I have ever experienced. Where else can you ask a nurse for something and get it immediately? (This happened to me several times). Great experience, wonderful staff, felt nothing but love there. Highly recommend!

Mom said the 14 day isolation room upon arrival was really dreary and she felt like she was in a shed. Once in a regular room, she said it was fine. The staff was always courteous when I spoke with them and mom said they were all really, really nice except for one particular aide. My mom also said the food there was really good; it tasted like homemade. And when there was an issue with the phone line in my mom's room, they walked the cordless down to her so I could speak with her. It may be an older building, but she said it was nice inside. (After her stay, she had another fall and she went to another facility only because she was afraid the 'mean' aide was still there.) Overall, it was a pretty good experience.

My mother spent about two months at Heritage Village. We were incredibly pleased with the…read moreprofessionalism and care provided by the staff. We were able to contrast their care with the dreadful care and staff we endured at Miller Rehabilitation. At Heritage the staff provided whatever care my mother needed, no matter the situation, without complaining or threatening or showing displeasure. They recognized that each patient needed different treatment and addressed each person as an individual. When my mom (who has her full mental faculties, unlike others in a nursing home) had difficulty with a couple of the roommates, she was given a private room at no extra cost. They didn't make a big deal about it, they just said that they provision their rooms according to need. We had a very different experience at Miller, where they called me and threatened to kick my mom out because she wasn't "behaving." My mom had just had a stroke leaving her partially paralyzed. It was traumatic and she was severely depressed, so yes, her behavior wasn't ideal. Miller responded by being shocked that she was so depressed, complaining about her behavior, and threatening to kick her out if she wasn't "nicer" to their staff. When Heritage faced difficult situations they handled things properly, kindly, and professionally. I do believe that if my mother had been at Heritage immediately following her stroke, she would have regained many skills that she never regained at Miller. I am rating them a four because of their rehab unit. Miller does have a gorgeous rehab unit (though poorly staffed). Heritage doesn't seem to have the space to offer as many rehab options to their residents as Miller does. The therapists themselves were good, but the facility was mediocre.

The pricing is very fair for the industry and well worth it for the loving care that is given. I have nothing but good things to say about Dad's stay at Riverside. It's so challenging finding a place for aging parents who need more care but Riverside staff always put us at ease and we knew Dad was in great hands. Peg, Nancy, Cary, Ben, Martha and Beth Ann and all the nurses whose names I'm forgetting are just some of the great staff that have helped us during Dad's stay. And we felt they went out of their way help us how ever they could. Even Joy, with housekeeping and the maintenance fellas are extra kind and helpful. If you are looking for assisted living or memory care in the area we highly recommend Riverside.

I fear that the previous owners may not have taken great care but I have only heard rumors. The new owners were fantastic and listened to all of our concerns. They are in the process of updating and renovating this home. They have been extremely sincere and supportive. I want to make people aware that there are new owners who are compassionate and caring. I'm sure there is a lot of government certification and licensing that is involved and they seem to be moving along getting all the necessary documentation. They communicated with us quickly and we felt of all the places we visited they were the most direct and not just giving us an inflated sales pitch. I would urge anyone looking for an assisted living facility to please give them a chance and go talk to them. I hate to hear negative things about this place when people probably are not aware of the recent change in ownership.
