I called ahead of time and asked what they had and the butcher let me know what was available and asked what I was looking for. When I got there it's a smaller store but the meat selection is great and the prices are on point with the area also. He remembered me from the phone call so I picked up two thick cut Ribeyes and a NY Strip Steak for our dog since it's his birthday. They also carry other cuts of meat which looked really tasty also. Definitely will be coming by here more often! They also have a great beer selection so check that out also The service was great and the meat looks delicious! Thanks guys!

This was probably one of the juiciest, tender fat cuts of meat I desperately needed. No premarinating needed, it absorbed the seasoning perfect in each succulent morsel. I hate biting into a rubbery piece of meat or cuts that have surprise muscle fibers that shouldn't be there. I also hate eating an animal that you literally taste "sadness". (Hard to explain that one) I haven't had a bad purchase yet over the past 13 yrs

This so-called local "food market" is not worth my time or money. Sorry, but I call it like I see it- disgusting, highly overpriced, poor/inadequate selection, and to top it off, all credit card transactions must be over $5! Over $5??? Whoa, did I suddenly transport myself back in time to 1984? I wasn't sure. Heck, even art vendors and guys selling duct tape wallets on the street let you pay with a credit card through their smartphone or Ipod touch with an Intuit card reader without a minimum tramsaction fee. Geez, get with the times. It's 2014, not 1984. To be specific, I had a horrible experience here. I walked in to pick up a few snacks because I happened to be in the Gaines area that day and noticed the place was rather dirty, with dust bunnies everywhere and items shelved haphazardly. Prices on the most banal of items were highly inflated, far and above traditional grocery store pricing. Honestly, the prices were so high they could have made a convenience store blush with embarrassment. I know that I sure as heck wasn't in Walmart. Man, never have I wanted to see a Walmart so bad in all my life (and I don't actually like Walmart!) After finding a few overpriced treats for my road trip, including the most expensive bottle of Starbucks frapuccino ever, I proceeded to the cash register to pay when suddenly the POS "owner" went off on my friend, Rick, and I for no reason. He treated me VERY rudely and then went on a tirade about God only knows what. He ranted about politics, local government affairs, his general opinion of society, the overly-entitled, etc. Hello, did he even notice that he was in his store, in front of paying customers? I suppose not. Maybe he does this a lot? It was beyond weird and completely classless. He also felt it necessary to respond to my private comment to Rick about the minimum credit card transaction fee. Oh yes, he went there! Was he polite about it (never mind that he wasn't minding his own business, which would have been the appropriate thing to do) when he chose to respond? Are you kidding me? No! This store is a dive and you should definitely avoid it at all costs! I wish I had. In short, there's nothing "super" about the Gaines Superette. I hope that a decent grocery store takes its place for the sake of the community. Unfortunately, there is nary another grocery store in sight.

Gosh, I didn't know what I was missing. This is a true IYKYK! Once you have visited Horrocks, you will return for life. This is a magnificent, rustic, unique, expansive establishment that offers a cornucopia of items. From floral, to meats, cheeses, wine, speciality items, fruits, snacks, vegetables, hard-to-find items and more. There is so much more! Things that stood out even though I loved everything about this place: -the vast selection of canisters of olive oils -the vast array of different varieties of balsamic vinegars (amazing!) -house made items in every area -house made popcorn with so many flavors, so fresh. -the many, many homemade soups: probably around 20 different kinds and delicious. -a ramen bar, what? -bakery -pizzeria -exotic fruits and vegetables and regulars ones too -the wine bar: sip while you shop. -house-made sausages and cheeses -house-made jams, jellies, local honey -extensive variety of spices, herbs, flour and grains - great service, very helpful. This is a must try and truly a destination. I cannot wait to shop and browse here again!
