My husband and I were buying a new home, and needed to wire funds for a down payment. REGIONS insists that we have to present at a regions branch in order to send a wire, but there were NO regions banks in the entire state. They expected us to drive 7 hours to the nearest branch in order to do a wire transfer that would only take 15 minutes or less. They are NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY. We couldn't WAIT to come back and withdraw every penny from this institution that has ZERO customer service. Thankful that our new state has NO REGIONS BANKS! Our new bank is all about it's customers, just the way it SHOULD be.

This location is new and clean. They're surprisingly high tech for a small local bank. I can't think of anything the big banks offer than Athens Federal doesn't offer. Maybe a dedicated iPhone app, but I hear they're almost done making their own. Online banking works. Any problems I've had have been dealt with quickly and by a real human being. I don't feel like just a number at this bank.

We are very happy that we did. Most banks have nice tellers and this is one of them. Everyone is super nice and it's small enough that they remember you, but big enough to offer you the same services they have in big towns. They are not pushy, but do offer the services that would benefit you in your financial situation. They really do make banking easier.
