I'm a drip coffee kinda girl, but this place has me ordering delicious lattes and teas too. Their customer reward program is very generous and has me coming back for more all the time. I'm a tea drinker not a coffee aficionado so was pleasantly surprised by the wide assortment of teas available here. I had the London Fog and it was such a pleasant and comforting experience. The cafe is warm and welcoming, baristas friendly and smiling and even a nice assortment of games to enjoy with a friend while sipping your tea or drinking your coffee. This was one of the best coffee shops I've been to. We had dirty chai and Irish mocha.The chai was nice and spicy with a shot of espresso and the irish mocha was a sweeter drink with chocolate, Irish cream and espresso. I only get coffee here. When it first opened we walked by and chatted with whom I think was the owner or manager and he was super nice. On occasion when I go in it's been welcoming, but lately I've walked in and gotten no greeting, ordered my coffee, paid, and gotten no thank you. It's like certain cashiers have a test to see how little they can say to you. Not my fav treatment. I'll stick with my regular coffee place where I actually have a nice one minute back and forth with the employees there, and only go here on occasion. read more

Came on a Saturday at 7:30am. I checked their times online and it said they open at 7am as did the door when I arrived. It was darker inside but I tried the door and it was unlocked. Then an employee peeked her head out of the back and said "we don't open until 8". I've given them many last chances but unfortunately I think this is the final straw. Have you ever been the infamous "V" coffee shop that sounds like Wictors in Redmond? If so, then you already know how amazing coffee can be. Now imagine even better!!! Yes, some of the baristas are from the "other" place, which accounts for the amazing crafting, but also there coffee itself is super YUMM! This place has decent coffees. Although their pastry stuff are so old. They keep them for days until they get sold. I've been ordering croissants and they are hard like stone and not fresh. I mean if you plan to charge customers almost 4 bucks for a croissant, at least give them fresh ones ! read more

Thanks to Katrina, I Never got to even got to try the americano I ordered. Katrina, short blond hair sat it down as she was saying Americano. I asked for soy & she said it's extra, let me add she didn't say it nicely nor sat the coffee down nicely. I refused, why should I pay extra teaspoon of soy when I can get it comp st SB? I took it to car & tasted it. It was like dish water & luke warm. So gross. I took it back and demanded my money back & Katrina asked for my cc. She later said drink was drip coffee not americano. I remind you, she said it was Americano as she sat down. I was unhappy having wasted so much time. Other employees tried to apologize, but this girl was pretty heavy on intimidation body language. Honestly the coffee here is pretty bad. I've been here a few times and every drink I've had has been gross. Their lavender tastes like soap. Hopefully they'll stop roasting their own coffee so they can use a better quality brand for their coffee. The space is massive so it's great for groups, but I wish their coffee was good. Coffee is fantastic - better than I've had anywhere since moving to Washington. As an added bonus, the roaster cares deeply about the roasting process and is more than willing to let you come into the roasting room to view the process and talk about coffee in general. I had questions about what coffee to get, he pointed me in the right direction with their Cascade blend. It is easily the smoothest and tastiest coffee I've ever had and I drink it all day long - sometimes to the point of exhaustion the next day. Its bustling during rush times - which isn't a challenge for me as I get my coffee to go after it became clear that my local option in Redmond Ridge became a fail. However, do keep this in mind if you want a quiet spot - its not especially quiet. Lastly - food is good, but expensive. Note enough to knock off a star, but, it would be great if there were less expensive options available. read more

I love this place! First off: The coffee is fresh and terrific! It doesn't get any better even if you flew to the Island of Sumatra to harvest and then roast the beans yourself. I was fortunate enough to arrive just in time to witness the roasting process in the adjacent room. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff who are passionate about their work and eager to answer all of my questions. In addition to roasting their own coffee, all flavoring is organically made from scratch in house. They are truly dedicated to organic and sustainable practices. My new favorite place to get coffee! The atmosphere is warm and inviting like you'd want your local coffee shop to be, but it's clean, updated, and modern too. Not to mention the staff has been upbeat, friendly and very helpful. The coffee itself is out of this world; roasted to perfection. They make their coffees with the latte flavor to complement the roast, which allows you to actually taste the coffee without a ton of sugar. I honestly didn't know that I even liked coffee up till this point - Starbucks had me thinking that all coffee tasted burnt, no matter the roast. River Trail Roasters has shown me that coffee in and of itself can be delicious. I will be back, and spreading the word! read more

This is my favorite coffee shop in Redmond! Great coffee, nice ambience, nice tables for working and studying. It gets a bit crowded on the weekends. Their cinnamon vanilla latte is my go to! River Trail is definitely a contender for the best all around coffee shop in Redmond. My wife and I have been going to River Trail almost everyday for the past few weeks. Coffee is great (they roast onsite), there is a nice selection of pastries and sandwiches, and the space and atmosphere is open and inviting. I have been on the hunt for a "hipster" coffee shop (think Ballard charm, Tiffany lamps, upholstered vintage furniture, and AMAZING coffee)- so when I heard about this new place, I immediately wanted to try it out. I will start off by saying... it's pretty cool. It's different from the vibe I was looking for, but I was impressed none the less. The shop is light and bright, somewhat angular with stainless steel and clean glass. It showcases the coffee roaster behind a large glass wall to the right of the front door, which is massive and impressive. Their menu includes a unique twist on classic favorites: a Lord mocha (milk chocolate shavings melted into the steamed milk and espresso), and a vanilla bean latte (made with real vanilla bean, evidenced by the millions of black flecks in the drink). These were my two contenders. I ended up ordering the latter, which took just a few minutes from swiping my card to being called out on the bar. I was giddy-excited to have my first sip of vanilla goodness, but was disappointed in the presentation- no cool pattern (self-confessed coffee snob here), and some very slight spillage over the side of the cup. The barista apologized, and explained that she had originally made my drink "to go" instead of "for here," and had simply transfered it to a different cup. This made for airy foam (booooo) and a slightly cooler drink. Meh. The drink itself was pretty darn good- strong smokey (but not overpowering) espresso and good vanilla flavor, not too sweet which is easy to do with syrup in espresso. But can I be honest? The novelty of a vanilla bean latte (as opposed to a plain vanilla latte) is more exciting than the reality of it. Here's why- there is a pretty subtle difference between vanilla bean and vanilla anyway. When added to a robust espresso beverage (albeit delicious), it drowns out the potential for any differentiation. So it was good, but the extra cost of making it vanilla BEAN yielded nothing special. My friend ordered a chai latte with the addition of vanilla bean syrup. Upon returning with her drink, we noticed it didn't have any black vanilla flecks like mine did. She brought it back and the barista happily remade it, but by the time my friend sat back down my drink had cooled to warm at best. The coffee itself was great. The wait to get our orders right was... painful. I should mention that the baristas were very friendly, and the girl taking our order was informative and lovely. They make all their own syrups in house using organic cane sugar and spices. The drinks aren't cheap ($4.00 + tip for my 12oz), but again- they are delicious. And this is Redmond. I've come to the conclusion that they just need a little more practice in the bar. They'll get there. And I will definitely be back. read more

Pretty decent, and the fact that I never been here before is kinda absurd, since I'm obsessed with coffee, and the foam art is really nice, I like the window frames too, but I don't like some of the staff, one staff looked like he was taking a break, so this one other barista filled in, and omgosh, she was literally the rudest person I have ever met, she looked like she was goth, and I've been here a couple of times before, and no one was as rude as this girl, I ordered my coffee WITH a bit of foam art, and when I received it WITH my name on it, there was no foam art, 0%, overall the design in this shop is pretty good, the lighting, I liked, but that goth girl was kind of a 2 star turn off.. read more

Visit 1: Their espresso drinks average $2.00 for a 12oz, and their chamomile tea is $3.75 for a 12oz. They could've had a toddler spin a roulette wheel and gotten more logical prices. Visit 2: They asked me to park my bicycle outside the coffee shop because they can't allow bikes inside, because they're 'dirty', when EVERY other coffee shop in Redmond allows it, they have plenty of space, and my bicycle is brand new. Also, if they're going to make their customers park bicycles outside, you'd assume they have a secure place to lock them up, right? WRONG. Visit 3: The owner herself asked me to move out of my seat so she could take 20 minutes to hang up artwork behind me at 10am on a Saturday. Who schedules that kind of thing during rush hour? Over all - nonexistent customer service and haywire pricing. There are TOO many other indie coffee shops in the area for them to be so comfortable running a business so irresponsibly. read more

Definitely a go-to coffee house! I am not a coffee snob but I do like a really good cup of coffee and only frequent local coffee shops. The staff is exceptionally pleasant and welcoming and the coffee tastes great! I had the caramel latte, the Lord mocha, and a cappuccino. Their caramel is hand crafted by them and the chocolate for their mocha is a special recipe! Cappuccino was outstanding! Best in Redmond without a doubt! The atmosphere is trendy, classy, and upscale yet extremely comfortable! The big comfy couch in front of the fireplace is a great touch! Plan a visit .. you won't be disappointed! I have driven by the Redmond Library a million times and had no idea there was this coffee place near it, I know some buildings have certain signage restrictions but if they're able to put up a more noticeable sign they should because more people should stop by. The staff was really friendly. I dislike coffee and and can count all the times I've been to a coffee shop on both hands, so I just got a hot chocolate. Definitely better than Starbucks! Their hot chocolate has a hint of a coffee taste to it, but River Trail didn't. I'm not sure about pricing, seems like it might be slightly less than Starbucks but again I don't really go there. The wait time for the drink to be made was like 3ish minutes, which I think is reasonable and hopefully means it was more than just a powdered mix from the store but even if it was they did a better job adding water than I usually do! read more

Good coffee; agitating atmosphere. Want a quiet place for coffee? Don't come here. The staff kept taking the bus-bin from table to table and loudly tossing dishes in. There are hardly any soft furnishings to absorb noise so every whine of the espresso machine, bang of the dishes and discussions of neighboring tables were echoed enormously. The atmosphere is fine, but that's mostly it. I've been here twice, and both times the coffee left more to be desired. My vanilla latte tasted like burnt milk and my chai tea latte tasted of excessive spice (added on top of the milk) and burnt milk. Additionally, there was no foam art which isn't too big of a deal, but including art could've earned this place another star. Also, the internet here is incredibly unreliable. During my first visit, it took about 30 minutes to connect to the internet, and after I connected, it faded in and out for the duration of my stay. The second time I went there, the router had been removed entirely. Thus, I bought a 16 oz. burnt, spicy cup of milk (chai tea latte) for almost five dollars for the purpose of getting no work done. This coffee shop offers nothing that you can't get somewhere else for much better. tl;dr the wifi here is unreliable, the drinks taste like burnt milk, there's no foam art or shop character to speak of, and it's not any cheaper than other places. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more
