Empty Tables that were supposedly reserved that were empty when we left.

oh where to start... The food was good.. And Now the Bad... Our waitress was rude and obnoxious. We asked if we could move tables because the ceiling was caving in above our table and water was dripping down. It was also extremely loud with sitting so close to the bar. We were told ALL the inside tables were reserved. They made us either go outside or sit under a caving ceiling. We opted to go outside since we didn't have any other choice. Our outside server Brandon was very good. But the bees were so bad one of us got stung by a bee. We didn't even finish our drinks because the bees were so bad. Then to top it off we went inside to leave and ALL the tables were EMPTY-- so in essence they flat out LIED!!

We stopped here twice on the way home from Ebensburg. Outside seating is probably great when the weather is nice, but we were happy to sit at the bar. Lindsay the bartender was a ray of sunshine on a rainy day. We wanted the cheesesteak egg tools but they were out. We ordered cheese curds, RJ had chicken sliders and I had shrimp tacos. It was all fresh and delicious. On our second stop he had steak Caesar salad and I had something that was super hot with crab and avocado but I can't remember what it was! We also tried the lobster cornbread which had chunks of lobster with a cheddar cheese sauce and honey butter which was very interesting and tasty!

This is so unfortunate because the food at this restaurant wasn't bad at all and our server was sweet . I went here with some friends of mine and unfortunately we both had hairs in our food. There was hair in my crab cake and a hair in her lobster bisque. I think the chef needs to wear a hair net.

Food and drinks amazing. Waitress hasn't been back to the table for over 30 minutes. We would like our drinks refilled.

Wow! My companion…read moreand I stopped in on an early Saturday evening after months of "you know, we should try that place sometime." We are glad we finally did. 1762 was formerly known as The Warwick Hotel, and that's the prominent markings you'll see from the street. It is a really excellent spot on the square in Hummelstown with cozy charm and exceptional service. My companion was initially skeptical when she saw wine on tap but immediately changed her mind when she saw the offerings--good quality and reasonable price point. The beer selection is also good. Not a huge number of beers but well-selected. Although we didn't have a full meal we did enjoy the sausage and honey appetizer, which was outrageously tasty with sausage from a local butcher in Hershey. Service was efficient and friendly, especially considering the bar (where we sat) was hopping. We also met the owner, Dave, who rolled up his sleeves to assist at the bar while also personally greeting customers. Our biggest regret is that we waited so long to finally visit...and we'll definitely be back soon.

We had the sweet potato appetizer and the pork belly. They weren't the most composed dishes but the flavors were there. Unfortunately I ordered a steak medium. The first time I cut into it was rare at best. Completely red inside and blood all over the plate. Sent it back and they sent the same steak back out and it was medium rare at best. I ate around the edges. They did comp the meal which was appreciated. We will give them another shot due to the positive appetizers and service

My wife had the fish and chips. Food was good and plentiful. Service was very good, ate with some old friends, there was no rush, they gave us plenty of space. The menu is varied, specials are not typical fare, but also do not become science projects like so many "creations" do. The food is left to speak for itself. Affordable. Two small criticisms, can be loud in certain areas. They are very accommodating in moving you. The parking lot. Walking over the bridge can be an issue with cars. Worth the trip.

It sounds bold, and it is, but it works beautifully. The broth is rich and deeply savory, the cheese pull is perfect, and the crispy rings add a texture you never knew the classic was missing. The pork chop remains the star of the menu--huge, expertly seasoned, and cooked with precision. It's widely considered the best in the city, and honestly might be the best in the state. Juicy, tender, and full of flavor, it's the kind of entrée you end up recommending to friends for weeks. Their octopus is another standout, prepared with surprising delicacy. Tender, not chewy, with a perfect char that adds just the right amount of smokiness. It's balanced, refined, and one of the most memorable small plates you'll find locally. And don't leave without dessert--the crème brûlée is phenomenal. Silky smooth custard under a flawlessly torched sugar crust that cracks just right. Simple, classic, and executed perfectly. Between the inventive dishes and the warm atmosphere, The First Post remains a must-visit for anyone who loves great food done exceptionally well.

The basic spaghetti and meatballs were very good and came with 4 meatballs. The Tour of Italy was good with the highlight being the alfredo sauce. The Tortellini Boscaiola was flavorful. All the entrees came with a large salad and garlic knots.    The wine was interesting. We tried chianti and found it to be too juice forward with a bit of carbonation for some reason.  Overall a good experience.

The vanilla espresso martini was so good! The portions are massive so come hungry! Everyone left with leftovers, which was great because the food was delicious!!!!

The building and dining rooms are still inviting and comfortable. The restaurant is located in a remote area on the far side of a one lane covered bridge. The menu dishes have a formal presentation. The hostesses were very apologetic however (apparently the party before us was taking an incredibly long time), and both they offered to seat us either outside or at a high-top table and gave us complimentary prosecco, so I don't fault them for this. The main entrance to the place is pretty cool, as it really highlights the rustic vibe and there was a waiting area that had a 3-person band playing classical music when we came. However, other than this room the fact that the place is a restored log cabin isn't really apparent. The food was all very average. We came here on my birthday weekend, and they had a small folded paper on the table saying "happy birthday" (that they must reuse because the inside said "happy anniversary") and their was a small baggie of chocolates. It seemed like almost everyone there was celebrating something, as I saw these on most of the tables
