It's been 10 years since I wrote the first review for this golf course…read more And it's been 10 years since I last played it and today was special because we were able to host the Strokes Fore Hop fundraiser for William 'Bam' Montgomery who is in need of a kidney. There were 72 golfers who joined on a beautiful sunny, 72 degree Friday on 11/12/21. Over $12K was raised to help with the medical bills and expenses for Bam. The course has matured and improved over the years. It is a challenging course with a fair amount of water and some greens protected by bunkers. There are some really nice Par 3's, hole number 6 which is right at about 115 yards from the Senior tees. I nearly won the 'closest to the pin' with a shot that put it right at about 10 feet to the pin. A pair of Panthers VS WFT tickets were the prize but, I was just edged out by a shot from Mr Shelly at 85 years old put it within 7 feet. The course is well maintained in great condition, the tee boxes are in great shape as are the greens. The fairways are wide open and most of greens are large and well maintained. They have a great bar & restaurant as well as a very nice out door patio. I highly recommend this course.

They consistently ran out of food and had a line out the door. It was very crowded. We sat outside on the patio in 100 degree weather without a fan. The table for our group of 8 was cramped and sagging in the middle (so much so that we spilled our food and tea). The waitress never once cleared the dirty plates from our table and we had to ask repeatedly for refills. My 7 year old was charged an adult price ($17) and she didn't eat much because everything ran out. However, due to the size of our party, gratuity was included. Overall, not a pleasant experience and we will not be returning.

So I'm paying more to play with a person I didn't agree to play with or ride with so you can save gas on your carts. This is a country track, Everything is straightforward and…read moresimple and an OK golf experience. It's the middle of November and the grass is gone dormant so you don't get the grassy fairways. The greens were actually in decent shape and I liked the well marked tee boxes, they were large and well maintained. As a Senior you can take advantage of some really good tee box placement on many holes. Several holes over water but with the Senior tee's takes the water out of play, Just too many blind shots for me. Tee box sitting low and maybe 200 yards to the top of the hill where you can't see beyond it. Most all the Par 3's are long and have low tee boxes with shots up hill. I had a breakfast sandwich which was cooked up quick to go and was very tasty with egg & cheese on whole wheat toast. I played with a Senior group and there a lot of Veterans for Veterans day so it was a memorable day for this AF Vet.

Oak mills amusement park is the old challenger 3 fun park in shelby. I had a birthday party there…read moretoday for my son. One of the workers (Noah) is very disrespectful. I was told, when i booked the party to pay the deposit and then the full balance due after the party. Noah came in the party room during the party to yell for us to pay the balance left. Nevermind the fact my child was opening gifts and i had a room full of guest. But then thru the whole day he yells 4 more times. As if he was trying to say i was a thief. Like i was going to leave and not pay. The first time i went to go pay the lady at the counter, she didnt know how to cash me out. So how am i to pay a bill if your workers dont know their job? So she calls him up there and i told him how he made me feel throughout my childs party and his explanation was that last week someone walked out without paying...well thats not my issue. And i dont like the way he made me and my guest feel and for that i will NOT visit nor have another party there...and this was the 2nd party my son has had here..If i could gove you no stars thats what youd get!!!

My fourth time paying on 5/31/25 with Kevin E. It was a…read morespontaneous round of 18 but Kevin sold me. Even after all the rain for the last 3 days they were 90 degrees on the carts. We had an 1140a tee time and played 18 holes in 3 hours. Once again, I'll say this course is hard to beat. Wide open fairways, not a lot of trouble if you miss the fairway. Restrained use of bunkers and some but not a lot of water. I especially like that all 4 of the Par 3's are short and the greens are large. The Par 4's are all reasonably long, most in the mid to short 300 yard range. The Par 5's are about what you would expect. The greens are really exceptional. The keepers always do a great job to keep them in good repair. I especially like the green complex on hole #17. It's a 321 yard par 4 with water on the front. You don't see the water from the tee box but there is a red flag on the right side that marks the closest the pond is to your tee. You don't want to drive it too far, more than 200 yards and you're wet. The green is somewhat elevated and large, they trim the grass just off the green very tight so if you miss the green, you can putt. It's just a fun hole to play and I always look forward to it. The carts are in good condition. They have a small driving range and nice putting area. The snack bar is adequate with hot dogs and pre-made sammies. Worth the drive from Fort Mill to hang out with Kevin and once again, enjoy some rural golf on a beautiful Spring day!

The Mother's Day brunch at Mulligan's at Deerbrook was an abject disaster…read more We had 1:30 reservations. People who had reservations before us were still waiting to be seated when we arrived. There was no hostess in sight. They ran out of food on the buffet. The food that was brought out was tasteless. The mac and cheese was horrendous. It was just noodles overcooked on a pan in the oven with a dash of cheese on top. No butter, on cream, no nothing. They advertised an "extensive" salad bar. It was a table with one bowl of lettuce, a half empty bowl of cheese, some stale broccli and several different types of dressing spilt and mixed together. The management didn't seem to even care; they didn't apologize for their failures, offer any refunds or any satisfaction at all. It was our first time and last. It was a terrible experience for Mother's Day. My mom never even got a full plate of food in the hour we were there waiting around for something to come out from the kitchen. Mulligans and the entire Deer Brook operation should be embarrassed and ashamed of the way they are running a business and treating wonderful mothers in our community on their special day.
