Well, I got Richie'd I bought a pair of trucks one was sold no key and missing the battery side skirt the other truck ran with a jump and was complete. Went home hired a transporter to pick it up and the first truck I received was missing a side panel from over the battery box transporter said he was confused because one truck was meant to not have the cover the other truck was meant to have it so he just picked it up but the truck he picked up first was the one meant to have the cover so I have 2 non starting trucks both are missing the battery side skirt and I'm stuck holding my d*#k because they are as is where is and he took the truck off the lot. I'm hoping a manager can help me but the CS rep was pretty sure I had no protection for this situation. Side skirt costs as much as I paid for the truck so not a little issue and the no start is the icing on the cake. read more

My father had a bad experience with Ritchie Bros. They unplugged the battery on a dump truck and it wouldn't start causing potential bidders to falsely believe the truck wouldn't start. We lost thousands of dollars and wish we never sold with these dishonest, shady people. I recommend selling in a truck magazine instead. read more

Huge complex that moves a lot of heavy machinery. I am only a few hours drive from this location so I was able to personally pick up the golf cart that I had purchased, not sure how I would feel about letting third party transport an item that I hadn't inspected. I would have given zero stars if that was an option. I bought a running, driving, operational truck at the sale. By the time it got picked up someone had tampered with the transmission linkage that caused it to be operational at transport time. Someone removed the tailgate and threw it in the bed. WHY????? I had to pay an additional $725 to get it transported as an inop because it had to be winched onto the trailer. When the truck finally got to my house the tailgate was tossed into the back seat. The drivers window was completely rolled down, and the back window was half down. The brand new battery that I payed a local mobile mechanic was completely dead because some idiot left the dome lights on. All Ritchie Bros auction could do when I complained was to send me paragraph after paragraph of how it was sold as-is with no warranty. Here is a GREAT idea! Don't let your yard monkeys mess with vehicles after the sale! And if they do find out who did it then hold them responsible!!!!!!!!!!!! I purchased a commercial lawn mower from ironplanet.com on May 5, 2021. Iron Planet is a part of the Ritchie Bros group of commercial equipment auctions. My transportation company showed up on the same afternoon to transport my purchase from Florida to Wisconsin. I received a call from the dispatcher that the mower was not at the property and he had been informed that the item had been sold in April almost a month previous. The $2665.79 purchase price with all the various fees and surcharges cleared my credit card the very next day. There were extra expenses associated with the transportation because the driver made a special out-of-the-way trip and spent 3 hours at the auction yard while they tried to find the item and sort out what they were going to do. I called immediately to get the item refunded. I called again 2 weeks later and they said it would 7-10 business days. It had already been 10 business days. I called again after 3 weeks to get refunded and they said they were waiting for my dispatchers invoice because they promised to pay their extra fees that had accrued by them selling the item I had purchased. What does the dispatchers invoice have to do with the $2665.79 that is sitting on my credit card accruing interest? Today is May 26 and I am still waiting for my refund. But wait....... There's more....... I purchased a different commercial lawn mower and the picture on the auction shows that it has a battery. However when I received the mower it was missing the battery. Unfortunately, the battery is a certain size and cost more than $106 to replace. It also appears that the tires that were on the mower that I purchased were switched out because the ones I got were very worn compared to the ones in the picture. So on top of selling items more than once to different buyers and not refunding money when items are not available, it appears that they also scavenge parts off of already sold units. This experience has been extremely disappointing and I offer this report to save others from having a similar frustrating experience. read more
