She is spectacular in person! Had the pleasure of meeting her a couple of years ago on a trip to Colorado. She really is quite majestic. I definitely recommend getting to see her. The intricacy of the woodwork is amazing.

This is what you see in the second parking lot. On the right side is a log book.

Amazing views!! Wow!! What a great treasure!! There is not much wifi service in the area make sure you know where you are going. Make sure you gas up, pack water and food. The town is really small. It's small loop trail with killer views. Check out the troll map on Thomas Dambo Instagram page and website for more trolls and information.

This troll is one of two in Colorado. This is Rita the rock planter by recycle artist & activist thomasdambo it's 1 of 119 trolls so far around the world. There is something truly special about these giant pieces from the Danish recycling artist following his mission to 'Waste no more'. He created a worldwide troll-hunting phenomenon & gives new life to discarded materials by turning them into large-scale artworks. Highly recommend for families and both children and adults. The hike is very easy & if you can walk you can easily make the short trek from the upper parking lot to this troll.

Troll hunt anyone? Fun facts about Rita the rock planter! Danish artist Thomas Dambo is on a mission to populate the world with gentle giants. Currently, his mythical creations reside in 17 different countries around the world.  Rita the Rock Planter, who was unveiled on August 4, 2023 is crafted from 100% recycled wood. Rita is one of the 119 trolls that have found their way into hearts around the world. How to find Rita: Coming from Colorado Springs, follow CO-67S towards Cripple Creek. About five minutes beyond Cripple Creek, a sharp right turn onto CO Rd 87, a wide dirt road. Many choose to park at the foot of the hill, just off the paved road, and embark on a leisurely hike upwards. A 1.9-mile loop hike. Troll-hunters and fans of Danbo's work should visit Trollmap.com for the locations of the others.

It was a nice visit. Really short and easy walk. We were confused at first when we pulled into the bottom parking lot. If you continue up the hill you will come to another parking lot where Rita is. Very beautiful views.

Lovely walk in the snow to an incredible troll sculpture! Rita the Rock Planter is made of recycled wood by artist Thomas Dambo.

We pulled off into a random overlook with a huge tire, then drove up the dirt hill behind it. Well, that turned out to be the remnants of a mine and the path to Rita. After a short, maybe quarter mile, walk we were there. It wasn't crowded and everyone took turns taking photos. There are some good views just past Rita as well

Rita the Rock Planter is one of the FREE things you can do in Colorado. Rita is one of two troll arts in Colorado by Thomas Dambo. Rita is nestled near Victor and Crippled Creek, Colorado. I recommend driving to the top parking lot and then it is just a short hike to find Rita. Pack your cooler with snacks and hit the trail. Make sure you put in your GPS prior to getting there because you will lose service unless you have satellite phone. It is not handicapped accessible but we did see folks with canes assisted by family.

Drove down from Denver over two hours to see this very isolated piece of art and was well worth it.
