This place is a cool general store in the middle of Ripley - a place that attracts loads of visitors each year, probably due to it's ice cream being so famous! The store has all sorts of day to day items with an extra nod to tourists - selling antique/old school confectionary likely to stir up string feelings of nostalgia amongst people visiting the village for the day. The attached ice cream shop is where the magic happens for me though. The Ripley ice cream is very much like Mr Whippy in that it's smooth and silky - and I really like this style. They also sell a good range of gelato too. Overall, it's worth passing through Ripley to stop for an hour or two - the pub 'the Boar' is supposed to be very good for food and drinks but there's not loads of other places to see and do. read more

This little store is located just across the street from Ripley Castle, and serves all manner of stuff. We visited for the ice cream, though, and found it to be really fantastically delicious stuff! Not too sweet, not too cloying -- just right. And we could even sit on the little benches in front and giggle as our kid's struggled to eat the stuff before it all melted into a puddle. The same ice cream is sold in parks in Harrogate, we later discovered. Highly recommended. read more

We used to live right around the corner from Ripley Castle and often enjoyed Ripley Ice Cream, very creamy and delicious!
