I had a very unsettling experience here yesterday. My son…read morehas been going to this dentist for the last 5 years, pretty much since this location has been opened. We have never had a bad experience until yesterday. Last week we went in for a routine cleaning and checkup. Once again, they had new staff working in the office area and it was another new lady doing his cleaning (seems like they go through staff quite often). This time was different, he had never had any cavities prior to this appointment. They told us that they had found 3 cavities and that they wanted to do a preventive kind of filling (SDF), which we were totally okay with moving forward so we scheduled the appointment for the following week (which brings me back to yesterday). When we went in, the lady at the front desk asked us once again if we were ok with moving forward with the treatment, which I confirmed (again). She then handed me the tablet and asked me to view and sign a form. Something told me to really read that form and I'm glad I did. I read the top portions then scrolled down, went to sign and just barely glanced up a bit more to see that they had marked down 5 teeth. When I went to the counter to ask, she confirmed that there were 5 cavities. I then proceeded to tell her that last week there were only 3 and I was confused as to why their paperwork says 5. Then out of no where, a random lady with an attitude problem popped out from the cubby in the corner and told me that she will have the doctor sit down with us in a room before we continue any further, which I agreed. Now usually I have a big attitude problem, but I really kept my cool the whole time I was there. We were called back within 2 minutes and she proceeded to take us back to a closed room that we have never been in before. The doctor came in and told me is going to take another look into his mouth and asked his staff to pull up the picture of his teeth. He then proceeded to tell me he does have 5 cavities and that maybe we didn't hear it right last week. But I would have remembered because he specifically told me it was 3 of his molars, not it's all 4 molars and 1 in the side. I then told him I was not comfortable at the moment with what was going on. He then got up and changed his attitude real quick, told me that was fine, we will cancel today and I can find a new dentist for all further appointments going forward. He then turned his back to me and closed out all the pictures and records on the computer. I then agreed with him because why the hell would I want to bring him to a place where we can't trust. I did cancel all appointments moving forward and I encourage everyone else to do the same!!! After we left, I felt so gross and I knew I needed to do something. I usually don't do this type of thing but I feel the public needs to know how they run their business. It's not right.

So far 2 visits in I am pretty impressed. The lobby is fun and there are tablets for the kids…read more Free coffee. We have been seen and treated promptly by friendly and kid friendly staff. So far so good! I was late to the first apt and they rescheduled no problem. They saw both of my kids and no cavities! Just had my sons sealants done today. And he was EXCITED to go. I read the other reviews. They didn't try to say my kids have cavities or needed any interventions. And they easily could have. My daughters big teeth are coming in behind her baby teeth. I asked. They could have easily scheduled her for 2 or 3 extractions. They didnt. It was her first visit and she was scared. They never tried to sedate or restrain either kid. Nor would I have allowed them to if I didn't feel it was needed. All I can say is....maybe your kids really had cavities? Or you didn't talk to your kids first and support them through the visit? WHY wouldn't you get a second opinion if they recommended something that didn't make sense? And WHY IN THE HE DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS would you STAND BY and listen to you kid scream in pain or allow them to be sedated or RESTRAINED when you think they are choking? That says as much about you as a parent as it would the dentist. If your kid is 4 and needs fillings and crowns and doesn't have a genetic condition, you ARE the problem. If you let your kids whole mouth get infected from lack of care and hygeine....the novicane will not be as effective. It's extremely difficult to numb areas with infection. And yes. You SHOULD make sure your kids teeth are brushed before you go to the dentist and do what you can to calm their fears. If they ever try anything like that with my kids, I will advocate for them. Demand more novicane. Reschedule for later so I can work with my child on their anxiety. Or WALK OUT WITH MY KIDS. Why would you let that happen? Anyhow. We have had 2 successful visits. I am with my kids the whole time. And I'd never let that happen to them. Maybe I'll edit this later if they try anything similar with my kids. But so far I am thrilled to have found a dentist that for me has been easy to get ahold of. Has been great with me and the kids. Gets us in and out fast but does a gold job and has gives us good advice. My older sister is a dentist. So, it helps to have an easy second opinion. And I'd know if they tried anything off with my kids teeth.

We tried to handle it responsibly by starting him on antibiotics and waiting two months for an appointment that fit around his demanding work schedule. Fast forward to today--our appointment was set for 1:00 PM. We arrived at 1:05 PM, only to be told by the front desk that there were 3 or 4 patients ahead of him--even though this was already our second trip here without being seen, and his situation was marked as an emergency. By 2:15 PM, we asked for an update on our 1:00 PM appointment, and were then informed there were now SIX patients ahead of him. How does that even happen? This experience has cost our family precious time, income from his job, and inflicted unnecessary stress. He even suffered a panic attack, which elevated his heart rate and blood pressure. Thank you, Western Dental, for adding to our family's stress with your misleading communication, for seeming to prioritize insurance claims over patient care, and for ultimately causing my partner's health to deteriorate even further that day. Really appreciate it (sarcasm). And one more thing--an insider who used to work there let me know the call center is actually overseas. Each Western Dental location has its own direct number, so make sure you're speaking with the clinic you plan to visit. If you're routed through the company's outsourced staff in another time zone, they often have no real information about your appointment. This setup is just about saving money for the company, not ensuring quality care.

Dental assistant stated they would come get me after my son was done with his x-rays after 30 minutes. I asked if he was done with x-rays? Same Dental assistant came out and told me my son stated that he didn't want me in the room. so that is why they didn't come get me when the dentist was looking over his teeth. My son is 15 when I got to the back room I asked him why they stated that and he stated that's not what she asked and that is not what he responded with. There were two women and while the main dental assistant was going over my son's dental work the other would interrupt with unnecessary/unprofessional comments. for example when I asked for clarification on how many cavities the main assistant was trying to clarify and the other interrupted with "ALOT". Which made my son uncomfortable and more comments she started to make the more my son seemed to feel like crap. If I ask for a price or how much you're not just gonna say "A lot". They were very judgmental. We were there to find a dentist we could trust for the whole family of 8. Moving to this area after my husband's service in the military. So we definitely will not be back nor do we recommend. This location is why Western Dental has a bad reputation. It is definitely not worth it. Go somewhere else.
