But if you have to, it's best to have some place that works with you and helps you through a difficult time in your life. The staff are friendly and helpful. I saw Dr. Melissa Harmon. Dr. Harmon took good care of me. She prescribed some medication for the pain (which hasn't been too bad). One medication the pharmacist refused to fill, due to some regulatory issues. I called Westside Endodontics and Dr. Harmon really went the extra mile to get my issue resolved. I was able to get the medication filled the next day. Very good customer service! Hopefully, you won't need to have a root canal done. However, if you must, I highly recommend Westside Endodontics.

They didn't, so he and an assistant performed the root canal for me on a Friday. I remember it was a Friday because I thought it was weird, and really nice, that he called personally the next day (Saturday!) to check in and see how I was doing, which was totally fine, btw. The root canal went off without a hitch, and after not experiencing any more problems, I went about my merry way. Until yesterday, Friday, August 7, 2020, when I tripped over a small fence in my backyard, and landed face first on our concrete walkway, damaging several teeth. I immediately called the emergency number for my dentist, Dr. Babilonia over at Smiles That Work, and after texting her a picture of my teeth she decided it was more than she could treat at her office, and referred me to her husband, Dr. Hochberg for treatment. Yeah, my dentist is married to an endodontist. ‍ What can I say? I guess they're teeth people! Anyway, within 45 minutes of my call to Dr. Babilonia she and Dr. Hochberg met us (I was busy holding a towel over my mouth, and in no shape to drive so my boyfriend took me) at Dr. Hochberg's office. They got me in right away, numbed me up, and then took some 3D x-rays of my jaw. They readjusted and aligned my teeth as well as could be expected, and put in a splint to hopefully allow the teeth to heal. It's too soon to say whether that will work, but I'm on a liquid/soft food diet for the next month while we wait and see. After the initial round of x-rays, they let me know I have a fracture in my jaw that's going to require the consultation of an oral surgeon. While they were working on splinting my teeth, they were also trying to reach an oral surgeon. After speaking with 2 separate surgeons who said the same thing, I'm slated to go in on Tuesday for a consultation about what we're going to do about my jaw. I'm sure it will be fun! Back to the visit with Dr. Hochberg. Throughout the whole experience, both he and Dr. Babilonia were calm, and reassuring (I was a little freaked out). They explained what they were doing and why, what the next steps were, etc. They were clearly concerned about my physical and emotional well-being, frequently asking how I was doing. These two dropped everything, on a Friday night, in the middle of a pandemic, to come take care me. They could easily have referred me to the ER, or even another endodontist, but they didn't. And while neither of those things would have been bad, or wrong, the fact they didn't speaks volumes to me about their character. These are good people, who are great in their respective professions, taking care of their community. If you need an endodontist, Dr. Hochberg is an excellent choice.

The decor is super fancy with leather couches, jazz music softly playing in the background, paintings & exotic artifacts throughout. Apparently, this office has been nominated numerous times for "top dentists" & "patients' choice" awards. The dentist and the dental assistant were very friendly, pleasant, and caring. The dentist explained things he's doing to test and what the solutions are in easy to understand terms. They got the exact figures $$ for me before deciding to go for the procedures so I don't get an unpleasant surprise later. The staff was kind and got me in the following day. Dr. Chavez came in and explained everything to me in plain English, so that even a non-endodontist like me could understand it! He walked me through why the other root canal had failed, what he was going to do and what to expect. The procedure itself took about 15 minutes. I was never in any discomfort during the procedure. I was given after-care instructions & a follow up appointment for the following week. Due to a horrible bacterial infection in the tooth and bone, I was in agonizing pain once the numbness wore off. I called Dr. Chavez's office and they spoke with the doctor and decided to give me a stronger antibiotic and some medication for the pain. They even gave my husband the Doctor's personal number, in case there were any issues at the pharmacy. Over the weekend, the pain was constant & wouldn't stop. My husband called the Doctor's personal cell phone and Dr. Chavez spoke with my husband, calmed our anxiety, and gave us instructions to better manage the pain. His staff called me the following Monday to check on me. I was still hurting and they told me I could come in. We got there at 5 till 12:00 when they were about to close for their lunch hour. I felt awful coming in when they were about to close but they all assured me they wanted to make sure I was taken care of and feeling better. Dr. Chavez came in and spoke with me about my symptoms & we decided to try numbing me again in order to give the antibiotics more time to start working. After the shots, the pain was so much better. I woke up this morning and what had been a screaming 10 on the pain scale was now a 1.5. I still have some slight discomfort but it is day and night compared to even yesterday. Then, this evening at 7:30, Dr. Chavez called us to see how I was feeling and to go over my options for my next appointment. I can't say enough good things about how much I love this Doctor and his staff! I have been cared for with such a high level of care & expertise & I'm so grateful that what has been one of the most painful times of my life, I had a doctor who took incredible care of me! They wanted to charge $5000. 2nd dentist, I got a second opinion. They are usually my primary dentist, but they stopped taking my insurance. I had them look at the five teeth the 1st dentist said I needed crowns on. 2nd Dentist said that the were just level two cavities and I didn't need crowns. I paid out-of-pocket for this dentist to fill them. I had to go back to the Sonrisa to get the teeth filled that were covered by insurance. He was so pissed that I already got the other teeth done. He was such in a rush and so mad the whole time filling my teeth because of it. He also gave me a speech at the end saying that he doesn't like people to go back back-and-forth to other dentists and not to come back until they finished all the work they're doing. Are you kidding me I am never going back! He's just mad because I got a second opinion and they fixed my teeth, and it didn't cost $5000. Do you research, because so many dentist offices are such a scam. Also, when you go get a second opinion. You are allowed to ask for copies of your x-rays and take it to the other dentist office. A lot of people don't know you could do this. This will save you money!
