Toby and his group have been absolutely as professional as they come. He has been doing horses for us for a couple of years now. He has worked on some pretty tough cases and made them sound and happy. His willingness to work with the vets is hard to find and he tells us when it would be helpful to have farrier films. Toby shod our horse recently. He was asked to respect the angle degrees we have established for our gated horse's hooves but he ignored that. He shod the horse with the shoes that were on him, not a problem, however when he left we found the nails were protruding from the shoe because they did not fit the shoes. When we contacted him he said that they would ware down however we asked him to return and to set the nails properly. He simply filed them down. The location of nails caused us to be concerned about the horses foot condition and we had our vet remove all the shoes. In 27 years with this horse we never had a "HOT" nail but this farrier set at least one. He was notified of this but his response was that he had not had a "HOT" nail in 15 years. He never made any offer to correct the shoeing or to credit us because of this problem. We were fortunate enough to contact our usual farrier who corrected the angles and nail sets using the same shoes that Toby took off. read more

Beware of this farrier!! Trimmed my horse back so far I still can't ride him over 8 weeks later. Had a vet come out performed testing and X-rays costing$$$ and he stated he has never seen a horse cut so short even 8 weeks later. This was not a one time issue, happened every time he came out with both horses and took advantage of me being a new horse owner. My newest horse has been lame over 8 weeks now. If he is such a knowledgeable farrier how did he botch our newest horse so bad where an experienced vet was shocked? This was a deliberate hack job to guarantee the horse would require shoes. He should be ashamed of himself for damaging a horse for money. Stay away he is dishonest don't let him fool you! read more

Stay away from this one! I have my horse that took 3yrs to get back on track with the hack jobs that he had done. she had over grown soul, her hoofs stopped growing and she was abscessing every month. Once time after he can out he said that he popped an abscess on the bottom of her foot. The next day she was worse than the day before I tried calling him a few times that week and never would get a response back. I had to call the vet out because she was so off she couldn't even get out of the stall. The vet thought that she broke the bone in her hoof.We did x-rays and she had abscesses coming out the top and bottom of the hoof! And he did say who ever you have trimming her hoofs get rid of them. And he's never made a comment like that in the 20+ yrs I've used him. This man has cost me $1,000's of dollars in getting my horse back to normal. The first yr. the new farrier could only shave her hoofs in rehabbing her back to normal. But finally we are in a good place! Then to add salt to the wound I hear that he's going around saying that he wasn't going to call me back. Really! I have heard more people having problems and this man doing lots of damage to peoples horses! read more
