I was satisfied with all of the empanadas on the menu. The pizzas were also tasty, though I can't recall the exact name at this moment. From the outside I passed by this place many times never realizing it was here. I never would've expected to find what I found. Really really good authentic Argentinian food like my mom used to make. For a place that sells Argentine food, they make a mighty tasty pizza. My kids prefer their pizza over other pizza vendors. I love getting the milanesa sandwich. When we have the craving for empanadas we add them to our order. They have several to chose from. They are a bit pricey, but in the end you can taste and enjoy the quality of the ingredients. read more

We ordered empanadas for Father's Day and we really liked them! They have 5 vegetarian options and we ordered them all-- here they are in order of preference: 1. Onion and Cheese (mozzarella cheese and onions) 2. Eggplant (eggplant, tomato, onions, mozzarella, black olives, basil, Parmesan-- tasted like a "pizza" empanada) 3. Blue Cheese (mozzarella, blue cheese, and onions-- the perfect amount of blue cheese flavor) 4. Corn "Humita" (corn, white sauce, onions, bellpepper, and parm) 5. Spinach (spinach, onion, white sauce, bellpepper, parm) I'd say 2-3 empanadas per person is probably a good amount. Would consider adding a salad to make it a slightly more balanced meal. I've known of this place for a few years now and visit once or twice per year. There is nothing dietary here except for maybe a salad and a glass of water. As for the goodies made here fresh from the oven are "empandadas". They are made with imported flour from Argentina as the ownership displays what is imported from the old mother country for baking. Argentine pizzas are also well known pies to enjoy. If I had to compare Italian, American and Argentine, I would definitely choose Argentina. Probably because they are made between a deep and thin crust with not too much sauce and a well round mozzarello cheese that is not greasy, no napkin required to wipe away excess grease. To truly understand what type of empanada is ordered, make sure to ask for the illustrated information sheet showing a variety of different folds, pinch marks and shape to distinguish each one. If this is your cheat day on your weekly diet, this is the day to cheat, like I said, nothing on the dietary side. Pizzas are made in 3 sizes and I honestly think a large is more like a XL, none the less you have the choice of small, medium and large. Expect to find all your favorite topping with imported flour which I think makes a big difference in taste. They also have savory and sweet crepes on the menu and one serving can easily be shared with a family of 4 because they do run slightly big. Our complete order consisted of the following; Appetizer Crepe - Nutella chocolate, whipped cream and powered sugar Dinner Salad Criolla - Romaine hearts, tomatoes and lots of onions Large Pizza - Pepperoni Empanada - ham and cheese, spicy beef and open basket spinach (my favorite) Beverages - Ice water with lemon Tonight we were complete with a party of 4, my tab was just over $40.00 and I gave a gracious tip to our waitress who was very attentive, polite and courteous with a smile. The business is owned and operated by a husband and wife team who employ son and daughter and it almost appears as if the adult siblings are indentured to the culinary serving under two masters. Other items on the menu are hot/cold sandwiches, calzone, pizza submarines, standard beverages, teas and coffee. NO ALCOHOL. Phone orders are available for take out and catering can be offered for your next party or corporate event. Empanadas are that perfect item to bring to a party. Wow, this place totally deserves all 5 stars! I came here last night with my fiance and ordered 2 chicken and mushroom empanadas, 1 sweet beef, 1 fatay and 2 ricotta and spinach empanadas to go. (You can order them fried, but have to request them. If not, they will automatically come baked, which is the healthier way to do it and still taste amazing!.. oh and the empanadas taste just as good reheated the next day) The ricotta and spinach empanada was really delicious. Loved the ricotta and spinach combination, along with the 2 thin slices of ham and a hard boiled egg (so note that the spinach and ricotta empanada is not vegetarian). The crust was nice and tender and easy to chew. The fatay had the perfect seasoning with it's herbs and spice and ground beef. The dough was nice and tender. The sweet beef was yummy and delicious and also made perfectly. Lastly, the chicken and mushroom empanada had a nice flavor and was moist inside. Again the dough was very nice and tender. The staff here were very nice and helpful. I found out that if I purchase 5 empanadas, I get 1 for free... so total score. Parking here is plentiful. It shares the lot with a few other eateries (there's a restaurant that is right next to it called the Silver Spoon) and small businesses in here. The plaza Rika's Empanadas are located in is right across the street from Foothill Presbyterian Hospital. I have been wanting to try these for a long time. Finally got a chance today and I ordered a dozen of their empanadas. The total came to 31$ and change so not cheap but the quality was definitely there. I tried almost the whole menu, some stood out as amazing but a couple were disappointing which is what kept this a 4 star review instead of a 5. The beef empanadas were by far the best followed closely by the chicken and mushroom. The bacon and prune empanada was the most interesting to me but the combination was perfect. The ham and cheese was good but not very special and the caprese was basically the same thing but with tomatos. The misses for me were the corn and the blue cheese empanadas. I am a huge fan of blue cheese but this one tasted like a warm piece.of bread with blue cheese on it. The corn one was similar in that it just seemed like a lot of filler and not much substance. All in all, the dough and filling for everything else was exquisite and you could tell they put a lot of time and energy in to making these. The staff was very friendly and they had my order ready on time as I called ahead since I live a bit of a way down the road. This place is pretty amazing for a whole in the wall. The husband and I usually get the empanadas to go and they are still super warm by the time we get home. They are put in a pizza box and with a diagram tapped to the top so you know what empanada you're eating. Each empanada has a different fold on a different corner so you are able to identify them. We've tried almost all of them and of course we like some more than others but we still like them all. From their corn empanadas are creamy and hit the corn craving spot, their onion and cheese are so perfect and enjoyable with jalapenos on the side, their spicy beef, their chopped beef with the bell peppers and olives, the fatay which is soooo good! and their caprese with lots of cheese, all super delicious. Just naming them make my mouth water. Don't be afraid to try them all. Their golden and lightly crispy crust will make all your tummies smile. They have a good amount of options and if you aren't looking for empanadas, I believe they also do hot sandwiches, calzones, salads and pizzas which I am yet to try. They are all affordable, clean establishment with friendly customer service. Great for snacks, party platters and even for dinner. Don't be fooled by their size. I thought I was easily going to be able to consume more than 4 and sure enough, my eyes fooled me. 3 were more than enough for me. Got off 210W on our way back to SF to check out this place as we were pretty hungry and we are so glad we did! We ordered 2 empanadas, a pizza to share and a milanesa with sweet fries. We must note that we recently went to Argentina and loved the food there, part of the reason why we looked for Argentinian food on Yelp and let me tell you the milanesa was as good here as it was there! The two times that I've been here were for takeout. Both times, the staff was nice and friendly, so that's a plus. The first time I was here I got their lunch combo and their empanadas were good! Delicious authentic beef empanadas. The dough is delicious and not too heavy. The beef is nicely seasoned and lean, not oily like some other places. The spicy ones have a good kick but I prefer the regular beef flavor. The Arabian ones are a completely different--I find that they kinda clash with the traditional empanadas so I prefer to not order them both at the same time-- the dough is bit heavy like pizza dough, but they are also delicious. The only negative criticism I have is their chimichurri sauce which is pretty mediocre and not a good match for the high quality empanadas. I happened upon this little gem. The name empanada caught my attention. I was a little nervous because I never had Argentine food. But hey I love empanadas. (They have much more than empanadas too). Pedro was very pleasant amd offered his favorites. One being the Fatay. It was a good choice.
