Since our first meeting and subsequent engaging of their services we have found Albert and Precious Paws to be responsive to questions and changes that have come. Albert has helped us figure out the best ways to come alongside our mom to help with daily tasks (laundry, light cleaning, dog poop pickup, etc), but is done in a way that is not overbearing and allows mom to feel respected and not less than because she needs help. We are grateful Precious Paws has come alongside us and mom is now being provided the best help for this time in her life. Thank you Precious Paws! (Ormond Beach, Florida)

As an out of town family member, I needed someone to take care of my elderly mother who was…read moredischarged from the ER after a fall and was returning home to live alone. Prior to her fall she was completely independent. I needed to find someone that could assist her in her home with everyday activities as she was unable to do very much for herself while recovering from the fall. In Home Health Care was ordered by the physician but did not cover the Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) which are routine activities people do every day without assistance. There are six basic ADLs: eating, bathing, getting dressed, toileting, transferring, and continence. I was referred to BrightStar Care by a Social Services Case worker in the hospital. I reached out to BrightStar Care (Greater Volusia County Area of FL) to speak to someone and the Director of Operations, Masha, answered the phone and answered ALL of my questions, which were comprehensive, as I had need and experience in the past for other loved ones with these types of services. Masha arranged for her Director of Nursing, Noah, and Scheduler, Terah, to come to my mother's home and the four of us sat down together and discussed specifically what BrightStar Care could do for my mother and what our expectations of BrightStar Care were. My main concern was that I wanted to be sure that any caregivers assigned to assist my mother were not only competent but trustworthy! Masha does this type of in- home interview with her team members to determine the needs of the client as well as assess the client's physical and cognitive needs in order for Masha to best assist her, with feedback from Noah and Terah, to pair up what BrightStar Care hopes to be a good match up for both caregiver and client! Noah even went to the trouble to purchase, hand deliver and install on his own time, a hand-held shower attachment which he assured me would greatly benefit not only the assigned caregiver but my mother as well when she returned to independence! The next day, my mother was first introduced to Wendy and thoroughly enjoyed her! Because Wendy had a prior vacation planned that was to take place during the period of time my mother needed assistance, Masha assigned Katie to cover for Wendy while she was away. Katie came out on day two to assist my mom. Fortunately, I was present when Katie came to meet my mother and assist her with the plan of care that was implemented and reviewed by my mother, myself and Noah. Katie immediately began to take care of my mom like she was her own mother! What a lovely, caring spirit she displayed. I familiarized Katie with what needed to be done while my mother went to bed as she had been to her PCP that morning and was still in considerable pain. My mother's PCP ordered some x-rays for my mother and while I was with Katie and my mom, the PCP office called me later that morning and informed me that my mother needed to be taken directly to the ER again as the x-ray had revealed a life-threatening condition that required immediate intervention. I informed Katie that I was sorry and that I had to take my mom immediately to the ER. Katie, without hesitation, began to help me get my mother out of bed and into a wheelchair for transport. Katie continued to reassure my mother that everything was going to be okay! Katie ensured that should it become necessary, we collected adequate items for a possible overnight stay, for my mom. I felt so comfortable having just met Katie and seeing her caring nature and straight forward and considerate spirit, I asked Katie to remain in my mother's home and continue to do the cleaning, laundry and grocery storage we had previously discussed that needed to be done. Katie had already begun preparing a meal for my mother and stopped and cleaned up and bagged up in the freezer the remainder of the food products that needed storage. I told Katie to lock the door on her way out. Katie gave me her cell phone and asked me to keep her updated as to my mother's outcome. She was genuinely concerned for my mom. What a wonderful care giving spirit! My mother was admitted to the hospital and I no longer required the services of BrightStar Care as my mother was scheduled to discharge to a skilled nursing facility upon discharge for rehabilitation. I returned home to a cleaned up home! Even payment of the bill was simple. My mother had authorized any charges be applied to her credit card so even payment for services was effortless! I would HIGHLY recommend this company for care for a loved one should they need ADL assistance on an hourly, daily, weekly basis or even 24/7 care. They are very reasonably priced and provided superior care and services in the short time I interacted with both the team leaders and their caregivers! Thank you BrightStar Care!

The management is totally horrible and has completely changed at least 4 times in the 3 years my husband has been there. I will also tell you to NOT put your loved one here. They will try to convince you that this place is wonderful and there are really nice things about it but management has never known how to run this facility and they cannot get it right. When I did live within an hour drive I was never actually able to speak to anyone in charge business or nursing staff. Now I call them and never know if I will get to talk to anyone or if I do I don't know who they are and how they relate to my husbands care. Several times when I did talk to someone I was able to get them to agree to call me at least once a month to tell me how he is doing. When I call them I get put into a mailbox usually already full and cannot leave a message. I moved out of the state and have been reluctant to move him because it is very hard on dementia patients. I have moved him several times before putting him in GV and saw how it affects him. Changes are not something they understand or easily accept. I would NEVER recommend this facility to anyone. If you do try to place your loved on there you will be charged a 'placement fee' up front which is non-refundable. So if say in 3 months you see how bad it is you have lost yourupfrontt fee. For me to get him in there I paid about $6,000. They have always added fees for anything they can such as med fees. That is a charge for giving them their pills. $100 a month. My husband has nursing care insurance so the Insurance company pays the invoices. The invoice should be faxed to them on the first of the month for the care given the previous month. Then they process it and mail the check within 10 to 15 days of receiving the invoice. Most months I call or email GV a reminder on the 1st they then lie and say it was done when it was not. Sometimes they did not send the invoice until the 15 or 20 of the month and even once did not invoice until the first of the second month. I was foolish enough to pay the invoice out of my pocket before the insurance company got the invoice. Several times I was waiting for 5 to 10 thousand dollars to be invoiced by GV so I could be reimbursed. Finally, I quit, now I send them the check the day my bank receives the check from the insurance company, and I send them the exact amount I receive from the insurance company which is determined by the invoice they receive from GV. GV has been sloppy enough to try to pass off a carbon copy of a previous invoice and just change the date or they will send the invoice without a proper signature. The insurance company will not send the funds for an improper or half filled out invoice. GV handles these invoices like a grade school project. I know this is hard to follow so suffice it to say I would never put a loved one in GV if I had it to do over again. Right now I am going to look for a place to put him closer to me so I can actually go see him without a 12 hour drive. The whole experience has been a nightmare.

However, I am so grateful for a specific Caregiver that provides us 8 hours of respite care per week, I am submitting this review now. Please note that my 5 Star Review is based solely on the integrity, abilities and performance of a specific person that is employed by Home-Instead. Leslie B. has uplifted our lives and demonstrated consistency. She is truly passionate about her position as a Caregiver. A little of our background... Last year, my adopted Pop, Mr. Bill, was hospitalized and in rehabilitation for several weeks prior to being released to come home. It has been my primary objective to see that he may remain home, for as long as possible, as long as his doctors and therapists feel he is safe, content and still able to experience some independence. So .... I scrambled to find a Caregiver(s) to assist us at home upon Mr. Bill's arrival on August 10, 2018. I have extensive background as a CNA in Rehabilitative Nursing. I am familiar with industry and what was needed immediately in our home. I am grateful for Leslie's dedication and flexibility as Mr. Bill is physically healthy with short-term memory challenges. She is intuitive and has made a positive impact on both of our lives.
