They never completed their contract because they walked off the job after we told them we already paid them the full amount of the contract between payments to them and us buying some of the material in the contract. At the beginning of our job, they complained another client was withholding payment until that contract was finished. A trend. We prepaid them a significant sum of money for special ordered materials (just to get them ordered and not hold up the job like previous delays in material orders) two to three weeks before they walked off, and they told us verbally and in text that those materials were ordered and would be delivered to our house. Those materials never were delivered, therefore, I have to assume they never ordered them. That they pocketed that money and lied about it. They refuse to engage with us on that discussion now. It seems as though they never intended to finish the contract. We were new in town and didn't do our homework before contracting with them. Only after did we find out they have a horrible reputation. We have heard from several previous homeowners that they did the same walkoff to them when Shane Dean Construction claimed they needed more than the contracted amount to finish the project. Additionally, they never finished approximately 20% of the work, but even that took them 4 months when the job should have taken 2. They intentionally obscured the costs of materials and promised repeatedly to produce a spreadsheet of the material and labor costs, but they never did. They repeatedly told us they would be on the job the morning of or the day prior, then failed to showed up...disrupting everything else in our schedule. They rarely worked a full work day. Ask around town before considering them. You'll be un-pleasantly surprised by the stories you'll hear. I HIGHLY recommend you do not contract with Shane Dean Construction. We will be seeing them in small claims court.

The owner is dishonest and makes promises with zero intention to keep them. They overcharged me on materials by more than $3,300.00 after assuring me I would only pay the actual costs of materials. I had plenty of money in my budget to cover a subfloor replacement and some additional shower light, but they wanted to charge me extra. They also botched the materials ordering causing delays and wrong items delivered. They were supposed to finally come finish the bathroom on 19 Dec (bathroom's demo was done on 12-14 Oct), but did not show up and told me they would not come back unless I signed a new contract saying I would pay another $5.3k. So, I fired them and asked for a final invoice and refund of my money for the materials overcharge, but they refused. They also botched the shower enclosure that is too small for the shower pan and must be redone, so I asked for their business insurance information to file a claim to get that work reimbursed, but they did not give it to me. They had said they were bonded and insured but that may be another lie, as they had let their business license lapse for 3 years. Finally, I contacted other contractors to fix this disaster and several of them told me this was not the first time they had to fix a Shane Dean Construction fiasco. The list of their unprofessional shady actions goes on...

They did an excellent job. I appreciated how quickly Rod responded to my request for this job. This year, I need another home improvement project. I contacted Rod. Once again, he responded promptly. I received an invoice that day. He and his team, rebuilt my roof and replaced my front door. I have been completely satisfied with the quality of their work. I will definitely hire Vega Construction for my future home repairs.
