I'm not sure why I'm bothering to send my child to a brick-and-mortar school here. My child is in 10th grade and all her classes assigned are 9th grade classes and they gave her the wrong electives too. I understand it is the first week of school and they have a lot to juggle there. Orientation for us at least was a bit of a mess. We were informed that the pin number I need to access online would be given Monday from the teacher. We were also told that starting Wednesday students could start making the alterations to their schedules to get them where they should be. today is Thursday and my child can't even get an email to go through to the counselor to find out what is happening. I called the school and got a fairly rude person on the phone. I understand that they have to deal with a lot of irate parents this week and such but that is no reason for them to be curt with someone who is trying to talk to them in a civilized manner. I was informed that no classes can be changed until starting next week and they have no idea how long it could be before they can get my child in the correct classes. So basically my child is looking at losing at least 2 weeks of learning at the school because they don't have the staff with the knowledge to get things done on hand. When I explained that at orientation we were told about getting a PIN number on Monday and class changes starting on Wednesday I was informed that they have all new teachers this year and they don't bother to tell the teachers anything so the teachers don't know anything. and these are the people that I'm expected to trust to educating my child. They have instilled in me even less faith in Polk county Florida schools then I had before. We definitely need a better run school system were they actually pay teachers a living wage and can attract teachers and staff that are capable of doing their jobs, knowledgeable with in the field and will care about educating our children. This is by far the worst school system I heard of anyone ever dealing with and the school is at the bottom of the heap. this is another reason why homeschooling is so popular these days. read more

This school is mad ghetto and it is crazy how there is a fight everyday and it is non-stop with the fights. The school bathrooms is very dirty and it is filled with feces and some students notice that there was semen on the floor and it is purely disgusting to hear this information. The school lunch in this school alright but sometimes the food looks like it has food poisoning and the milk inside the milk carton was very slimy and not drinkable. The teachers are alright depending how they act towards the students. Some teachers are nice than others and the strict teachers will have rules that makes no sense and it discourages their freedom. Some teachers for example like this teacher who I forgot their name, they had a squeaky voice and their height was short and her rules was very strict and it made the students feel uncomfortable. Another example is this brown teacher Mr. Lutchman, this teacher cannot teach for nothing and he bullied my child and it made him very uncomfortable and sit next to a student who had fleas on his hair which I found some in my child. He would also not help the students with their work and be lazy in his chair. This is very unacceptable and I'm very disappointed in this school on their behalf of their teachers and their academic skills, some of these teachers need to be fired IMMEDIATELY, and I have sympathy for these children who are not learning the way they should be. read more
