I will admit: like most tourists who have come through, the ultimate lechon place to hit is House of Lechon.
That was the original plan, but when we got there, it was far too crowded and my party of 11 was, in no way, willing to wait. HAngerism was in play.
And that's how we ended up here. I overheard that this is usually the alternative to House of Lechon, so we looked forward to it.
I let the rest of my party order the goods. The ultimate goal for me was to try the lechon - everything else was gonna come second. And I have to say it was disappointing. Some of the meat was dry and the skin was soft and chewy. The flavor was on point, though, I'll give them that.
I liked everything else: the seafood platter, the bulalo soup, and my favorite deep fried kangkong! The only issue I had with most (if not all) of the dishes was that they all came warm. I know it's hot outside, but I much prefer my food served more on the hot side.
The service was also lacking. We had difficulties flagging help down from beginning to end. A few plates we ordered either didn't make it to our table and it was hard to find anyone to remind them of it. Lots of room for improvement on this department.
It's a nicely laid out place, though. They have plenty of room for big groups.
But the lechon - which is supposed to be the central dish of this restaurant - was disappointing.

Hopefully they find a way to make improvements. Might be key to overtaking House of Lechon's popularity. read more
