I am a local at Kirribilli who started frequenting Ricky's Cafe two months ago having just moved to Kirribilli. The coffee has always been fine, but my preference has always been the organic orange juice. The food has always been on the average side, with minimalist presentation and is fairly average on flavour. I recently had an awful experience there, which will ensure that I will not be returning. The rudeness and complete lack of customer service from the owner (and only the owner, Ricky - the other staff have always been friendly), is completely horrendous.
I went on my own and sat down at a 2 person table. I ordered an omelette and juice. I was halfway through eating when three local friends called saying that they would be joining me in two minutes. I switched tables to a 4 seater. Within a minute of having changed seats, and still halfway through my omelette, Ricky, the owner, came up, and in front of everyone barraged me in an aggressive and angry tone saying that "Just letting you know WE DO NOT DO THIS". I said "Do What?". He said "hold tables". I said that my friends would be turning up in a minute, they were just around the corner. He again said, in a loud, aggressive tone, "well I just wanted to let you know WE DON'T DO THIS". By this stage other customers had turned around and were watching in disgust. He then stormed off. I was so mortified. I stood up, and requested my tea, which had just arrived, to be take away, as I no longer wanted to stay for lunch with my friends (who by then had arrived). His rudeness, his aggression, and complete lack of customer service is simply unheard of. Me and my friends who are also locals will not be returning on principal. Bring back true, genuine customer service. I am sick of not being treated with respect, not being treated like a paying customer. No more. read more
