My wife and I had Sunday breakfast at Rick's as we were leaving Maine for the summer. So many options to choose from on the menu that we had a difficult time deciding. I almost got their lobster version of eggs Benedict, but when our waitress (who was incredibly helpful, friendly, and informative) told us the special, we both got the same thing: A short stack of pancakes with strawberry-rhubarb compote, a side of fresh fruit, eggs, and our choice of sausage, bacon or ham. i have been here a few times and generally enjoyed my experience. this recent visit our waitress was very short and rude with my friends and i. i reminded her about an iced coffee that she had forgotten to bring and she looked at me funny, said nothing, came back with the coffee and placed it down rudely and walked away. two of my friends ordered the same sandwich one with bacon and one with sausage. my friend accidentally started eating the wrong sandwich but before she could tell the waitress it was fine and the other friend would eat it she snatched it off the table and walked away rudely. we were all very alarmed and scared because we were trying to be polite and let her know it was okay. she generally was rude and made us feel like a burden for eating there. the other workers are very kind and this was the first time here that we had a bad experience. we do understand we were a large group of kids and may have been loud, but the rude service was not warranted. the food is really good though. . read more

Food was OK. Omelet was kind of dry. Fried eggs were good as well as the corned beef hash. Coffee OK but not enough cream to go around the table. No problem with the service or wait time. Rick's All Seasons Restaurant is a great place to get away from the crowds and get a really good meal. I had some blueberry pancakes, a couple eggs, bacon and a homemade biscuit. All of it was really tasty. My wife had the eggs Florentine, which were also really good. That have a parking lot right outside and plenty of seating, so you don't have to worry about that even when there seem to be millions of people around York. I'd definitely go here again. read more

I've been breskfasting here for over 30 years. Yesterday my family was told it would be a 15-20 minute wait for a table. Fine. What I found odd was 1/3 of the restaurant is reserved as a waiting area (previously there were tables in this space) ? We waited 50 mins to be seated and another 50 mins from the time we placed our order until the time we walked out. They were sorely understaffed and unapologetic. Another larger party next to us had plates come out piecemeal. Some guests were finished eating before others got their breakfast. I'll never frequent this establishment again. It was hands down the worst dining experience ever. We joked: "We must be on candid camera." We were seated immediately at Stonewall Kitchen Cafe and enjoyed a delicious meal comparable in price with pleasant and efficient service. read more

I'm not sure where everyone is eating that this place has 4-5 stars. My breakfast was extremely salty, there was hardly any hollendaise sauce on it, no wonder they sell extra sauce for 1.99 on the menu... it also tasted like packaged sauce mix. I have been a fan of Rick's for 27 years, telling all my friends who went to York, "go to Rick's the food is good, prices reasonable". This year I was eager to go to Rick's because I knew it was under new ownership. As always, the food was very good. Prices still reasonable. Service however, TERRIBLE! In fact I plan to write Jon Adelson, the new owner, a letter only because when you are cooking on the line you have no idea what is going on in your dining room. Saturday morning, Labor Day weekend... we were seated within 5 minutes of arriving. The bus girl very attentive. Our server, Terry, was friendly which made up for her lack of speed. She was obviously too busy to handle her section of tables...we waited for re-fills on coffee multiple times, observed a gentleman get up and get his own coffee, a table of 3 came in and waited a good 12 minutes before they were even greeted. What got me was when two ladies were seated next to us and received NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT whatsoever, even when Terry did come upon request to fill our coffee she should have at least said " hello I will be with you shortly" - NOTHING! I finally got up to go to the ladies room and told another waitress working the upper landing about the two women who hadn't been greeted yet. But by then the ladies were gone. When Terry asked me how long they had been waiting and I told her (on the low side) 5-7 minutes, her reply "that's not a long time" and hurried off in a huff! I would have fired her ass right then and there! I've been a restaurant owner, general manager, but first and foremost a server. Whatever my expereince is doesn't matter, what matters is keeping your guests returning. Those two ladies will never return to Rick's and they will only tell people how terrible the service was - or lack there of. Jon Adelson as a new owner of a long standing restaurant I am sure wants to know his guests are being treated well and made to feel welcome. I've been here several times, and it's a pretty good spot. The food is good with generous portions, the decor is fun and interesting, and the atmosphere is great. Parking can be a chore, but if you drive behind the building towards the library, there's a public parking lot. It can be very noisy inside, and it's often crowded. At busy times, the service can be unbelievably slow. For example: arrive at 10:15 for breakfast. Wait 20 minutes to be seated. Another ten or more minutes before the waitress came over. We ordered OJ and coffee and placed our food order. 40 minutes later, nothing. I finally saw the waitress glance at our table and realize she had forgotten about us. She hadn't even put the order in. I'm pretty lenient about complaining about waitstaff because I know they've got a hard job, but a breakfast isn't something that should take two hours to complete. Great eggs Benedict and the BEST tuna melt I have ever had. I find myself craving it all the time now! Some of the servers seem a little young and inexperienced, resulting in occasional sub par service, but all servers had to start out sometime. They are friendly, and that is important. I live in town and can tell this will be a new regular spot for us, especially since it will be open year round. I go to Ricks all the time when I'm home from college. The post about not serving lunch during breakfast will be true at ANY resteraunt. I went here 3 times in one week because the food was pretty good, but the service is not the best. Every time I came there was many girls working and none of them acknowledged me or anyone I was with but just kept walking past me. The first time I went we walked in and no body working said hi, a few minutes later a lady said we can sit where ever we would like because it wasn't that busy. I got the French toast with mascarpone and strawberries, it was okay but not my favorite. My boyfriend got the poached eggs with spinach on English muffin with avocado and bacon and he really enjoyed that. The second time we went here there was other people waiting to be sat so I went to the very front by the hostess stand and several girls working walked right past me with out even saying hi.. other than one complimenting what I was wearing and continued to walk away. They waited until they sat the party waiting already & about 5 more minutes to finally ask for my name... but I just told her that we would sit at the bar so that we didn't have to wait another 20 minutes or so for her just to come back up to us even know there were open tables for our party size. Sitting at the bar was not bad (other than cold air blowing on us) and the food was great. (Pouched eggs with haddock, eggs Benedict, and chocolate chips pancakes) The third time we went here was just to get food to go. I had called in the food to go and it took us about 20-25 minutes to get there after I had placed the order (sandwich and coffee deal for $6) and it was pretty busy in there for people waiting so I went over to the side and waited about five minutes and finally got someone's attention to tell her that I was just picking up a to go order and she confirmed that she had the to go order, but then took another 25-30minutes before I walked out after being out another to go order and asking her if my order was done and her saying "yes, I just have to grab it". So I sent in my boyfriend and he came out a few minutes later and they forgot to give him the coffees... because they waited so long to get the food my sandwich was gross and the bread was rubbery. read more

Went to Rick's for breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday .There were 6 of us on Saturday and 7 total on Sunday. We were seated promptly each time and had the same great waitress. Our orders were taken and served promptly and every order was dead on balls accurate and cooked to perfection. Great coffee and reasonable prices as well. read more

We went to Rick's on the yelp review and were saddened by the lack of waitress interest. Ordered our breakfast which was good but no waitress attention as is the food ok never even checked,never offered more coffee,had to get her attention to give us a bill. Awesome! Eggs Benedict on crab cakes no more needs to be said. Homemade hash with peppers and onions, they give you the option for canned hash, no choice as far as I'm concerned. Went there Sept 1, for breakfast waited for 45min. and and still nothing. waited another 10 min. got up to leave and pay for coffee, they insisted it was coming right out we said no thanks we will pay for our coffee, we were charged 5.40 for coffee. They said they had ne person in the kitchen, they had 2. We have been going to Ricks for years as we are local, so we thought we would try out the new owners. Only 3 stars due to the slow service. Arrived with two small children and didn't have to wait for a table which was nice, so we thought it would be a quick breakfast, which is appreciated with little ones. At first we were concerned, because we were not greeted by a server for a little while. Eventually a server came over to take out drink order. Little confusing why the servers were so hectic given the number of empty tables, once we ordered we figured out this mystery. We spent over an hour waiting for our food. This is not the server's fault, but waiting for over an hour for breakfast food when the restaurant was not that busy was very off putting. Our server was nice enough to bring our toddler's pancake first once the clock tipped over 45 minutes. Food was good, my husband got the breakfast burrito and I got the cruiser omelette, although I didn't get the modifications I ordered. Also, ordered the oatmeal which was very good. Really the only down side was the kitchen service. Food was very good, maybe it was an off day. However, with the amount of empty tables we saw I'm scared to think what table turn around is when it's busy. read more
