I have been here a few times just for brunch so I have not seen their full menu just the brunch buffet. This time when I went they had creme brulee which is my favorite. The creme brulee was just ok the top part could have been more torched. I also wish they had more vegetarian options on their buffet. They did bring my friend out a special dessert for her birthday which was nice. read more

This was our second visit here. First was when we visited McKinney a year ago and stayed at the Grand Hotel, which is connected to the restaurant. We had a wonderful dinner this evening and they accommodated our "picky" palate. We had the New York Strip with baked potato, creamed spinach and snap peas. Excellent! Dessert was cheese cake and a plate with a slice of pecan pie, brownie, chocolate mousse, and chocolate ice cream!Amazing! Well I have to start by saying I brought my 94 year old mother and 1 year old granddaughter there for lunch on a Tuesday for lunch. My mom was very excited to go back to Ricks because she was there when it opened. Clearly when we came in the front desk greeters were unsure of why we had a child there. Definitely not a child friendly restaurant. But it was a Tuesday lunch my mom wanted to have a nostalgia moment but unfortunately it did not go that way. So sad. She always recalled Ricks with joy. Server was very clearly unattentive . My sweet mom paid for lunch $70. For sandwiches and grilled chicken but I can't quite get passed how we were treated. The setting inside the restaurant is low dimmed. I'd you go anytime before 8-9pm if you are facing the front door it'll blind you when someone comes in. The complimentary bread is not the best. Almost stale. The oysters are very delicious & fresh. The New York strip has porgini panko crust that was overpowering. Had to scrape it off. Too much. The potato purée that it sat on was absolutely amazing. Wow. I'd go back just for that! The creamy spinach had a nice taste to it. Desert: the Texas brownie tasted like you ate a spoon full of cocoa powder. New York cheesecake didn't have a homemade taste to it. More like store bought. Overall it was just okay. read more

I'll start this off by saying I'm absolutely blown away by Rick's Chophouse customer service. My husband has made a 10 person reservation for my birthday on 12/15 for 8:30. They let us know right away how there was a group ahead taking longer than usual (out of their control and we understand it's the holidays & people are spending extra time together). The manager came over and informed us it would be a wait. He then offered the entire group a round of drinks, totally awesome! But it got better, they ended up having us in one of their private rooms since the group still hadn't gotten up from their table...we were totally blown away by their customer service and attentiveness. We went here for the very first time to celebrate our 29th Anniversary. The restaurant called the day before to confirm the year, BUT......there was no acknowledgement of our anniversary while we were there. I guess they forgot. We enjoyed Lobster Bisque and a crab cake to start. My husband ordered the Elk Medallions and I ordered the Sea Bass. We shared a crème brûlée for dessert. The food was excellent, as was the wine. Then we spent a little time in the bar area and listened to a great band. Excellent food and atmosphere, but would have been nice to have our special night acknowledged. read more

What an awesome gem in a not so big city. I'm so glad I made reservations on a busy Saturday night one week prior. This spot is grossly underrated. I entertained a great friend from out of state on a busy night. Everything this restaurant does is...on...POINT! This was the first time I had been here but I'm glad I reviewed the yelp reviews...they are highly accurate! The entire dinner experience was very well orchestrated. Lightly dimmed, very relaxing and an awesome meal was well delivered! Our table (2) ordered apps. Crab Dip and Pork Belly: Absolutely cooked to perfection! Taste was out of this world. Went for a late lunch/ early dinner at 3:00. They serve the lunch menu until 5:00. The blood orange martini was so refreshing and delicious. I ordered the chicken fried steak and it was FANTASTIC! The bar was packed and we weren't allowed to sit because all seats were reserved! Drinks were ok. Staff were pleasant and service was good. Now let's talk about food. Worst lobster bisque I've ever had. Tasted like tomato soup with a couple pieces of lobster thrown in. Mr friend had the beet salad and said it had zero flavor. I had the carpetbagger fillet. Absolutely terrible piece of beef. Not cooked the way I asked and it was fatty/stringy. I couldn't cut it never mind chew it. Nothing had seasoning or even salt including the red wine demi glaze. The best part of my meal was the loaded baked potato. My friend had the shrimp and grits and said the shrimp were ok but the grits tasted like cardboard. Again, no flavor. For desert, we ordered the NY Cheesecake. It was definitely not made on site. Could tell it was previously frozen. They dropped two blackberries on top with about 6 dime size spots of blackberry sauce. It didn't taste bad but meh. Very little care is being given to their food. Someone at the top needs to start paying more honest attention to prepping and tasting. Left very disappointed after spending hundreds of dollars. We won't be back unless it's an invite for a tasting to show us they are trying to improve. There's too many other very good steakhouses to go to. read more

We arrived early and had to wait to be seated so we waited in the bar. Great bartenders and ambiance was top notch! Once seated, our waiter was professional but seemed to have a bit of an attitude, but no worries. Quick to get the drinks. I ordered oysters as an appetizer and they were truly the tiniest oysters I have ever had, but good. The calamari was great. Then we waited a VERY long time for dinner. I ordered the prime rib, which I am very familiar with and mine was overcooked..I ordered medium rare and it was brown..The waiter disagreed and said it was fine and walked off. Manager arrived shortly after and I told him it was overcooked and he took it back and had a new one within 3 minutes, the second was great. Overall the food was good and decor is great. Wasn't overly impressed with waiter but the manager was a 10 star which made the evening very nice. I would definitely go again, everyone has a bad night. If you want to go, make your reservations weeks in advance, and DON'T be late. read more

Loved our experience at Rick's! Lanier was an exceptional server and did a great job at welcoming us in and made great food and drink pairing recommendations. He's very knowledgeable about the menu and made sure we enjoyed our experience. We enjoyed the seared tuna dish for an appetizer and especially loved the southwestern corn. The tuna was super fresh and seared to perfection. Our meals were all exceptional as well. I really enjoyed the scallops on top of a bed of risotto. They were like butter and melted in my mouth. Also everything was served fresh and very hot temperature-wise. The other guests at my table enjoyed the Cowboy Steak and Salmon dishes which also looked amazing. While dinning in, we were also welcomed by Mark, the Maitre de, and Rick, the owner who were both super friendly and hospitable. John was our professional, attentive and informative server. We enjoyed cocktails, Oysters Rockefeller to start, Caesar salad and the lobster bisque. The bisque was a bit too salty for my tastebuds...temperature was perfect, but there was no lobster chunks...maybe a few tiny pieces. My filet was cooked perfectly medium. I would've enjoyed more demi glace. The asparagus was still crisp and the garlic mashed potatoes were perfectly whipped. My husband had the prime rib, the star of that show was the potato purée. The au jus was flavorful and the stewed onions that came with it was awesome. The bathroom was clean and the eco friendly use of hand towels instead of "paper" towels was elegant. I will definitely return to enjoy Thursday nights in the bar area. Until then, enjoy!! read more

Rick's Chophouse is a gem in McKinney. This is our go to spot for Sunday brunch, or a fancy night out. First the Sunday Brunch: make a reservation! This is a popular brunch and it gets busy every Sunday. I'm not even sure they allow walk ins. The brunch is always great, with amazing fresh food. They have your typical eggs and bacon and such, along with seafood, prime rib, oysters, smoked salmon, soups, and southern comforts like Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and hash brown casseroles. Not every Sunday is the same! You might see something different offered along the line. There are desserts as well, my favorite is the pecan pie! A mimosa (for 21+) is included for each member of your party, and you have a server regardless of this being a Buffett. Regular dining: again, make a reservation! They get busy for dinner and it's best to secure your spot. The staff here is top notch. We have been in for dinner for special occasions and the staff always make it so special, and bring out beauty desserts to help you celebrate. The food is so good, especially the seafood. My last visit I got lobster tail with scallops, and it was delicious. I'm not a steak eater, so I can't give good feed back there, but given how good everything else is, I'd say it's pretty good.
