Gratitude, I arrived at Rick's for Sunday brunch back in-town visiting on business. Looking forward to yet another iconic experience I've come to expect from Rick's Chophouse. I was not disappointed the flow, cutlery, vibe, and smoked Prime Rib were just as I remembered from previous years. I hadn't the pleasure of enjoying a buffet here though; pleased to see the approachable $30 price, expected favorites, and smoked Prime Rib all in abundance. Brad Blevins was my server and his attention to detail, warm- welcoming, and professionalism all increased the level of introspection during dining. Fabulous dinner. Staff made our anniversary over the top special. They went above and beyond.

This is fine dining and it is worth it. Their food and steaks are AMAZING and service is top tier. Very romantic environment.

What's not to love about Rick's? My husband says the buffalo steak is one of the best steaks he's ever eaten! The lobster bisque is yummy too! Eating outside with music playing near by and seeing everyone walking around the square makes for a lovely dinner! we've also done their anniversary package and stayed at the hotel after dinner & enjoyed that as well! read more

My husband ordered the shrimp and grits, with no complaints- well cooked and good portion size. I ordered the filet and lobster- it was marked MP which we mistakenly assumed based on other menu items and as it was a busy evening we tried to order quickly and forgot to confirm the price. The lobster was just okay; slightly rubbery but taste was fine. The steak was perfect. When the bill came we were pretty shocked that my entree alone was $118. The lobster definitely was not worth that and won't be ordering that again! read more

This place is really great. The service and the food are probably the best in McKinney in my opinion. Really beautiful and nice atmosphere in the downtown area. I can tell the place is well managed. I come into the bar area now and then and get the prime rib sandwich. It is really so good that I can't make myself order anything else...ha ha ha I have had a young lady named Daniel serve me each time I have come here (I like to sit at the bar) and she is lovely and very well mannered and it makes the experience even better. The taproom manager (Brian) is always checking with me to see if everything is ok which also adds to the experience. I highly recommend this place. read more

I've been trying to get into Rick's for years but they're always completely booked. Tonight we finally got in and were disappointed; it was average at best. I got the lobster bisque to start which was in a literally espresso cup. It might have been 1 single ounce of soup and it wasn't that good. For my main course I had the prime rib which had zero flavor, even with the steak sauce. The creole cream corn was really the only dish I'd recommend - it had a great spice. Lastly, the cocktail menu was a bust. 2/4 of the drinks we ordered weren't available due to out of stock ingredients. read more

After reading great reviews about this local restaurant , we decided on a Friday dinner. I'm surprised how badly this our first and last evening was. Atmosphere - Dimly lit but not too dark, beautiful ceilings and a romantic feel. Customer Service - I made 7pm reservations we were there on time. I spoke to the hostess and let her know I was here. We sat and waited for our table. Another couple entered and sat just as we did however, they were seated before us. Which we thought was strange. The ladies behind the hostess stand appeared to be confused as to who was to be seated next and were conversating. My wife did speak up to them and let them know what our reservation name was just in case they forgot about us. The ladies completely ignored her. As for the wait staffed everyone gave off a rushed feel as though they were at Norma's cafe and need to turn the table over quickly. Our waiter was not amicable , he was straight to the point which normally would have not been bad if I were at a cafe. After we received our drinks and placed our dinner order , a server brought a basket of bread on our table and though he was on a rush. The same server gave off the same vibe each time he returned to refill our drinks, rush rush rush. . During our meal a man of importance maybe a GM or the boss himself asked how our meal was. I replied to him my meal was just ok and my wife asked for a box to go. This man never deliver my wifes request for box or understood I was complaining. Everyone from the hostess to the GM/boss were just checking off checklist with very little customer service that I would expect for the prices they have us pay. To top it off as we left we walked by the hostess stand which did have one woman behind it, she did say not good bye, so long, take care or thank you for coming. She summed up the entire visit perfectly Food - The bead was warm and came with butter, it was average. We order beef skewers, Wedge Salad, sea bass and pork tomahawk. The beef skewers had a very strong yellow mustard taste with one of the 3 skewers very gamy taste. Wedge salad was about 1/2 the side I would get at steakhouse and the dressing was basic , mayonnaise with blue cheese crumbles. The pork tomahawk my wife did enjoy , the sweet and sour glaze was perfect fit for the pork. My seabass was a miss, the fishy smell was absolutely noticeable when the server brought it to the table. The fish itself was over cooked, for this price point I expected better. The garlic whipped potatoes were nothing special. I did enjoy the carrots and the sauce. We finally for the to go box and found the sever threw it into a box like a child would. It has been sometime since we had a local restaurant with a great reputation to fail on so levels. Rick has the steakhouse experience to almost perfection. We have made this place an annual event for my birthday. We visit other times throughout the year but Christmas time is special. The Cowboy Steak is a must have. I can't say enough good things about Rick's Chophouse. If you haven't made the trip to McKinney please try to make it in December. Had a nice lunch outside at Rick's. Patio only has 4 tables so can get busy. My friend and I enjoyed salads and the poached pears were so so good. I added grilled chicken and I'd highly recommend that. I also took advantage of the Duo lunch option and had a cup of lobster bisque. Pretty yummy. Our server was okay. She was nice but very short with us and didn't seem to be a fan when we ordered a second glass of wine rather than dessert. I had heard of this restaurant for years. Always in glowing terms. But living 30 minutes away always delayed a first visit. Had a great meal last night and I couldn't help but think, "All of those years wasted when I could have been dining at this fantastic restaurant." Great menu. Something for everyone. Big steak? Gotcha covered. Seafood. Yup. A burger? Yes, and most restaurants won't offer one at night hoping you will spend money on something more expensive. I had the Cowboy. A big, tender bone-in ribeye with a loaded baked potato and the best onion rings I have had. And Rick, the owner, stopped by to make sure we were enjoying our food. "Why did we wait so long to eat here?" That's what we said when my wife and I finally ate dinner there. We had no reason for missing it, and, after one dinner, we instantly regretted the delay. The food was spectacular, and we loved the beautiful, quiet dining area. However, the reason that we will return (SOON)? The service. The service is excellent! We will be back again, and will probably stay at the Grand Hotel again just like we did this time. I cannot recommend this place enough. read more

Looking back at my last review of this place was a 5. That was 4 years ago for my wife's birthday. We went last night for our upcoming anniversary on the 14th. We started with the beet arugula salad which was very good. Wife got the sea scallops. Hers were overcooked and hard. Instead of a nice sear they were dry and very dark. I got the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and corn medley. The potatoes and corn side were good. However, the chicken was inedible. I ate part of one piece. The batter was as so thick and had no flavor and heavy and tasted strongly of the pig dat it is cooked in. The chicken was dry and overdone. Just no flavor. I told them about this and they took off the chicken. Rather disappointed with the experience. Not sure if standards have come down I the last 4 years but probably not a place we will use again so a special occasion. read more

Great food, service and ambiance. The worse table is the first one you come to in the main dining room. As one enters the main dining area, do not agree to sit at the first table one comes to. It's a table, middle of first 'row.' Everyone has to pass this table as they are taken to their table or booth. This table also gets all the heat or cold when the door opens. As I think about it, the same is said for the front tables grouped together for a large party. Same problems. I don't have photos to show and explain it better. They may have already corrected the table placement problem. ‍ If that's the only l thing I can find to complain about at Ricky's, one can say it must be an excellent place to dine. read more

Amazing service and food options. Their buffet style brunch offers a variety of breakfast, lunch and salads. They also have options for kids. Their lunch menu is very reasonably priced. Don't forget to try their desserts like their cheesecake, key lime pie or apple pie. read more

Rick's Chophouse should be called Rick's Salthouse; everything had so much salt that it made me question if they were covering up spoiled food. There's a trick in the industry that Chef's (well maybe line cooks, not true Chef's) will over flavor with salt to cover up spoiled food. I will also say the crab dip tasted extemely fishy, that's a red flag right there. Just so you are aware, there are two dining rooms. One that faces the street side and one that I think you can access from inside the hotel. I highly recommend you try the hotel side, the street side lacks bad ambiance and poor seating choices by the hostess. For us personaly, the FOH staff is going to be the ruin of this place. Passive agressive servers, with eye rolls and attitudes for days. There were so many other issues/cocnerns I don't have the time to list them all. Strongly recommend you stay away from Rick's Salthouse. read more

Ambiance - 5/5 - Located in Mckinney, this place has a real classy, upscale vibe. Staff - 5/5 - Very helpful and courteous. Able to make great recommendations. Food - 5/5 - The food was great. Ordered the following: Calamari - 4/5 - I do wish we had marinara sauce, but the sauce it came with (avacado froiche) was really good as well. Porterhouse for 2 - 5/5 - Ha. This was just for me. This came with Bone Marrow Compound Butter. I don't know what else to write after this. Overall, one of the best chophouses to go to if you are in the area. I've been here twice and both have been amazing experiences. The staff is super friendly and attentive. Even other staff that wasn't your waiter made sure your glass was never empty. This visit, my boyfriend and I came for our two year anniversary. We both started with escargot, which I never had before. I didn't know what to expect but it was really good! He had the New York Strip and I had the Elk. The new york strip had a crust (?) on it that was delicious. My elk was cooked perfectly. For desert, I had the creme brûlée, which I'm very picky about.
