I was not looking for more jewelry, but I walked out of there with the most beautiful pair of lab-created diamond studs. I get compliments from everyone, even the mailman. These earrings (2.5 carats) look real without being ostentatious, and wear comfortably and safely. The owner and staff are excellent. It was a fun purchase. I was visiting this store and the other ones in Juneau and Ketchikan. Around all stores in all…read morethree locations they advertised "free" collectible coins. However, I was unable to complete the sets due to the workers saying I have to purchase an item to get the coins. Even when I mentioned the coupon book and showed them my precious coins I got. Each time I went into the stores the workers were also extremely rude and acted like it was a problem to do the coins. If you don't like giving out free coins maybe you shouldn't advertise it. Another issue I had was I am over 21+ and a couple of the stores told me to "get my mommy and return" I simply replied with "I am an adult and can show you my id." I was able to get coins from stores 1-5. Store 6 said they "don't have that store anymore." Store 7/8 said I must purchase something before I get a "free" coin. And due to the lack of truthfulness from the other stores I didn't even try 9 because it wasn't worth me getting upset again. I just felt this whole experience was a disappointment and if you're going to advertise free it should be free.

We went into this one store in Skagway just to see what it's like, but since we didn't really need to buy jewelry, we just looked around a little and then left and they didn't offer to speak with us and we didn't see anything about the coins either. Approximately 3 months later I had my earrings valued and to my horror they had been swapped. The stones had been removed and replaced with ones that were smaller, less quality in colour, clarity and value. In all of the time that I had them, the only time I had ever left them out of my sight was at this so called jewellery store in Skagway. They are liars, thieves and crooks. My fiance went inside to inquire, and was given the runaround, being told she "didn't need to buy anything", but the sales clerk would not give her the charm. He said he would wait for her to walk back to the cruise ship to get her credit card so she could buy something first. When we went back to confront the clerk, he said that "it's only free with a coupon", and directed me to the sign in the front window. He peeled a piece of tape off the words "With Coupon" and said "See, you need a coupon". As we went to leave he replaced the tape over the words. STAY AWAY!

They had some with "Alaska" engraved on them, but they are $20-$25 more per bead. The gentleman showed me 4 charms that I "could only get in Alaska" - 2 glass charms, a cruise ship and a crab. I opted for a glass charm without the engraving. I was in a hurry to get to my next scheduled activity so in my haste I signed the receipt, took my package and left. When I got back home from my vacation I found out two things - First, they mis-represtented the charms. There is no charm exclusive to Alaska, and the charged me the price for the engraved charm and NOT the plain charm.

Most are the standard Tot and Nefertiti items common in tourist trinket collections. But there were some that were unique. I ended up going inside and Mo greeted myself and my friend very warmly. I asked about a piece with Isis on it, and she has not left my possession since. Mo was very personable, friendly, and absolutely one of the kindest people I have ever met. we stayed in his shop for more than a couple of hours, bought more than a few items from him, declined a ride back to the port (because he hadn't eaten either and we didn't want him closing in the middle of the cruise port day!) To say the least, I will forever bypass all the other jewelers in all of Skagway to come here in the future. The jewelry is beautiful, not the same as the chain store items, far more affordable, and Mo has not lied to us about any of the pieces we bought... which is HUGELY different from several other stores.
