Such an honor to see the young men become soldiers. Brought tears to my eyes. Thank you to all who have served! What a joy to be part of the army family.

I had never thought of writing a review for Fort Jackson but after coming across their Yelp page I…read morefigured why not... I completed basic training here late summer / early fall of 2013. I arrived at the beginning of September and the weather was disgusting. It was hot af and very humid. It started to feel nice towards the end of the month and once graduation came around in November, it was pretty chilly. My experience was startling at first as I had never had a grown man / or woman yell at me, let alone hurt my feelings.... But what did I expect, I signed myself up for this and knew this was not gonna be a walk in the park. I heard it all and not once did I take it personal.. My drill sergeants were tough and so was the physical aspect of it. You have to be both mentally and physically tough for this as this is definitely not a vacation. There were days we were up for 12+ hours and we had to do it all over again the next day... Several people from my platoon quit right at the start and they did not get to go home right away. More then a handful of people quit in my company, both men and women as they could not handle the intense training. Fort Jackson is very old and we encountered a few paranormal activities / sightings while we were out in the field. My company was located in the old trailers at the time so we didn't have it too nice as the other companies did.. Overall if I had to do basic training at Fort Jackson all over again I would. I've been out of the army a few years now but would gladly do it all over again.

This installation is one of the Army's largest training sites. It's green, with lots of long roads…read morewith very little signage. It's a typical military installation in that since. Despite what the weather report says if you are here for a graduation dress warm. At least make sure you bring a jacket or a blanket, It's at least 15 degrees cooler in that area. The graduation area has a few vendors selling Army flare prior to Tue ceremony. Videos of the graduation will run you about 35 and will have to be mailed to you. If you want the graduation and basic training video that cost about 65 for both. Hoodies and sweaters are about 45 and of course there's knives, stickers, and flags of all sorts. Overall its a solid experience and basic training graduation is one of those unforgettable events. If your just visiting you want be disappointed in anyway.

I went to basic training and then advanced training in the communications school there in 1970. I was nostalgic so looked at Google Earth and maps, but nothing was familiar. It made the base look like a combination amusement park and a suburban community. I wondered..........where the heck is the actual huge military base I remembered? The vast forest areas where we hiked and learned to shoot, and the immense barrack areas by Tank Hill? Nothing was the same. Anyway, I then went to U Tube where they showed trainees in the gas chamber, taking off their masks and running out coughing. It looked a lot easier and more mild then what I remember, probably because the gas chamber wasn't that gassed up and was too big to concentrate the gas from the little shack they had us in. Hopefully they still train hard like they did back in the day, as these guys do go off to war. The training experience was very tough for me but I'm glad I pushed myself thru it. I certainly wasn't an impressive soldier but it did teach me self confidence.

This is a pretty bad post office, which is disappointing because considering its location, size,…read moreand historical significance, it should theoretically serve as the model for all the post offices in the metropolitan area. I've come here many times to try and buy stamps, and I don't think there's been one (1) time where they've had a full sheet of stamps for me to buy. They either have a half-sheet, 2-3 individual stamps, or direct me to use the kiosk, which I don't like doing. Second, a lot of the times when I try to use the drive-up blue collection box, it's stuffed full to the point of being impossible to even put mail into it. Finally, and perhaps most frustratingly, I had to mail something off after work one day, and dropped it in the outside blue box at 4:58 p.m., just in time for them to come out and collect it. Well, because it was an important piece of mail, I waited in my car for about thirty (30) minutes to make sure that they were going to collect it, and nobody ever came out to pick it up. So, as a result, it's going to look like I did not mail it out in time, when in reality, I rushed to the post office to make sure I got it off in time. The only thing that saves this office from a one-star review is that as a big fan of both minimalist and brutalist architecture, I love the aesthetic of the building. At first glance, it looks kind of ugly, but it gradually grows on you, and has become a signature part of the city's skyline. I just wish that I could say the same about the quality of service. While this post office might be the most accessible to most people, I would try to find a different location, even if it's a little less convenient, if you're able.

The staff are friendly and kind to the customers it wasn't crowd. I got out the Post office and the…read morePost office was very clean. plus the outside was clean also . When I walk in the Post office while I was waiting in line they were really quick.

I'm about to get an accident because they're just not merging, and they're still going on about their business, having their little conversations with their silly selves. Please save lives and do something about elderly people who can't drive and are scared and young people who don't understand the rules of the road and red light green light.
