She sadly passed away from the seizures and VCA denied any wrongdoing and we were left without justice. Do your own research for your pets or it could cost you their lives.

One thing that upset me is they told gentleman behind me the length of the wait for example she told him two hours. Which was more courtesy then we received. My elderly cat got arthritis in his back leg and they recommended a shot to help, Solensia. It helped after the first shot, but then he got progressively worse. He woke up one morning and would growl when he would try to stand. I knew it was time for him to be put down. I called the clinic to see if they had any appts and they said no. I told them it was an emergency and he could be seen as an emergency walk in. The front staff said no. I didn't know they could turn away emergency clients, but they did. The whole experience was so disheartening. I was already stressed bc I knew I had to put my 15 yr old cat to sleep, my cat was moaning in pain, and the clinic I've been taking my pets to just said no. She didn't even bother to put me on hold and ask. Im not saying I won't be back, but I'm saying when you're dealing with animals in distress, try harder.

However, I would not recommend this place for procedures nor surgery. Even though, they were amazing for my oldest baby. My second experience when my kitten needed to get her tail removed was not so great. It actually complicated the situation even more. I wasn't given clear instructions regarding recovery and nor the meds were helping with her infection . So I had to go somewhere else instead, they are great for vaccines and minor check ups.

I spoke with Patty and she set me up an appointment for Friday (8-15-2025) at 9am. Yesterday (8-14-2025) I got a text with drop off instructions. See below.....so up and out the door early to get them to groomers this morning I showed up at 9:10 walked in and Mendy was in complete shock that I was dropping them off. I said well Patty set my appointment for 9 she pulled up the schedule on the iPad and said no your appointment is at 12. I said no it was for 9 trust me 12 would have made me happy not to have to rush. Mendy stated leave them I will fit them in. My dogs sat there from 9:10 to 2:30 and was rushed to get the female finished because husband went to pick them up. When asked about the issue the vet fired back well your wife could have taken them and returned at 12. Really!?!?! First off why did this happen? Are appointments suggestive now days? My appointment was at 9 they should have been groomed at 9. Second was that your best response as a business owner? Absolutely not! And third where's the accountability for your mistake? The comment "I will fit them in was a complete lie." They were the last two for the day and when Ray asked Mendy about her comment to fit them in she didn't have anything to say but a mumble. I'm sorry my rant is over, but let me be clear you don't play with my babies. So as an animal lover rethink your visit to Spencer Animal Hospital they lack accountability and I'm positive my dogs stayed in the cage the entire time without water and was told they had a potty break. I breathed a big sigh of relief at it only being related to travel stress. I was sent home with some metronidazole drops and probiotics as well as Royal Canin bland wet food. Too bad my cat would not touch it after taking a first taste and whiff of that cocktail. :-P Staff were quick and friendly.

Wondering If I Was Misled About "Needed" Services…read more The staff was courteous and professional however, I had significant concerns regarding both the assessment and the associated costs. I paid $170 for an initial examination, during which the veterinarian stated he suspected a possible intestinal blockage after feeling what he described as a lump. Shortly after a staff member informed us that blood work and an X-ray was recommended and would cost $1,200, with the indication that additional treatment and additional expenses might follow. I chose to seek a second opinion at another clinic. During that visit, the examination was normal, no lump was detected, and an X-ray was recommended as a precaution. The results showed that my cat was experiencing gas and mild gastrointestinal upset only. Based on this experience, I am grateful that I pursued another opinion and would strongly encourage others to do the same.
