Although most of its trade comes from takeaways, this little place is not to be underestimated as the food is good and the prices are reasonable. You will never need to book as its always pretty quiet (more so now as Bencotto has opened less than 100 yards away) but its worth stopping in for lunch or early dinner whilst the High street is bustling. Aside from Pizza they also do a selection of other foods including Pasta and chicken all at great prices. You could be fooled that this is just a takeaway if you rush past it but give it a chance and you will find the food is great, the service is personal and the prices are better than you expect.

All the food is home made and where possible from local suppliers, including what may well be the greatest 'Scotch Egg' in Britain, well worth a try. The bread and rolls were fresh and full of flavour. My wife enjoyed a ham salad granary sandwich whilst I enjoyed my Scotch Egg with a prawn roll. Generously filled and proper flavour served in recyclable paper bags. Although we did not on this occasion try the salad selection they looked fantastic, all home made, fresh, a large choice with some inovative ideas (The special of the day being 'Chilli Tuna sandwich filling) We know that next time we are in Felixstowe we will be making another visit to this oasis of good service.

This is a permanent farmers market where you can buy quality meats, fish, veg, cheese, etc - all with great prevenance, and of high quality. I often buy the Sunday roast there - they do a great beef on the rib. Also here is the Bourne Garden Centre and the Samford Restaurant Cafe. The cafe is small and well served with a menu of homemade dishes (I like the Suffolk Steak Sandwich). There is usually also a good selection of veggie options. The menu is not huge, but does seem to offer a decent degree of choice. The food is very good quality - I believe that the current chef came from The Alex in Felixstowe. The prices are not cheap, but that is reflected in the quality of the food, so I don't think the food is overpriced. Service is friendly and good, and there are stunning views out to the Orwell Bridge.

Endorsed by Rick Stein we were excited to stumble upon this lovely little farm shop on our way from London to Southwold. However upon paying for my selection of cheeses, chutneys and crackers I asked the lady serving me (just making polite conversation) 'so all your stock is made locally?' She quite readily came clean to say the cheeses were from Spain and the chutneys from Sri Lanka... Sri Lanka! I wouldn't mind, but they were £4.45 a pop and the cheese not cheap either. What annoyed me the most, angered me even - was that when unpacked and inspected at home I discovered no labelling at all which identified the food's origins. If nearer, I would have returned these items. Selling things under the pre tense of being locally sourced is a massive no no in my book. My advice to Emmett's: get your delicious chutneys and cheeses locally, or CLEARLY LABEL them as imported, not Emmett's own. For Shame!

Enter The Clockhouse; situated part way down the pier, you can tuck into some great pizza or paninis. We went twice on our recent holiday - once for a quick cuppa and cake, the second for lunch. The cuppa was lovely, with a great slice of millionaires shortbread, the perfect size for two to share. Second up for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised! Sitting outside in the sea breeze (read it was really windy), we were sheltered by the metal surrounded bench seating, which is probably one of the best things the pier folk have ever thought of, allowing you to sit outside and forget about the weather. The menu is simple and I quickly decided on the goats cheese and caramelised onion pizza, which I shared with the other half; it arrived in good time, with an additional plate - when placing the order, my dad was asked how many people would be sharing each pizza, a clever touch, showing that they recognise what people might want. Of course, you're going to get a few flies and wasps, but it's worth it for a little bit of something different! Just don't look down, that sea looks awful choppy.
