Neil Ferries from the Aberdeen branch came out to help us with a damp problem this week. On the first day, he discovered that the lintels over the windows in the wall he was dealing with were rotten and needed replacing. Over the course of the week, he did an absolutely amazing job of fixing the damp, putting new lintels in place, and putting the wall back together in preparation for a plasterer. When painting my living room I found a piece of floorboard that seemed to have broken as it was sunken. Went under the floor and suspected we had woodworm. Called Richard and Starling, a guy came out, a nice guy, confirmed the woodworm and pointed out it wasn't just 1 bit! All through the bottom of the house. Got a tad worried and itchy! For about the last 4 or 5 years, completely unknown to us as the pipework was concealed, every time we emptied the sink in our en-suite the water was running under the floor and creeping up behind the walls in both the en-suite and the adjacent bathroom. All courtesy of a mouse which had chosen to chew completely through the waste pipe! After the rooms had both been completely stripped, Richardson and Starling came in to replace numerous rotten floor and wall joists and treat all the remaining timber to prevent further rot. Their work in both rooms was absolutely outstanding. The technicians were extremely polite, they put carpet protectors down, explained every stage of the process and did a fantastic job under difficult conditions, clearing up completely behind them.
