I am a former employee of Richards. I was employed there for 3 years. And I have to say this is one of the worst managed places I've ever worked at. The sheer amount of big egos that work in one place is insane. In those three years I was depressed, mentally checked out, burnt out, you name it. It totally changed the person I am. I was trained to treat customers with no respect, to give out broken items, to not help trucks back out after unloading. Basically treat everyone like garbage.
The branch manager Jason Jakubiec is a terrible person whose work performance is based off of the lust he has for women consumers and the Inside sales girl Jenna Ritchey. After getting sick with Covid and showing documentation of my Covid test, I was told I was lying and that I faked it to get out of work. Even though I took NO TIME OFF my whole time there. If I wanted to take a day I would have used my 120 HOURS of PTO. After showing documentation of my 2 bulging discs I was rewarded with more work. Instead of stepping up like a real manager I was told to get over it.
The warehouse manager John Annen is the worst warehouse "manager" I've ever worked for in my life. He constantly ridicules you and puts you down over things that were out of my control (ex: if any other associates left garbage on the floor , or material wasn't put away properly.) As well as constantly boasting about his working salary whilst the associates do harder work and get paid Pennies. I honestly believe that Bi-polar may be an issue with him. Will never talk sh*t to your face, only to the ground type person. 3 people quit and one fired under his control.
Ed Waxmansky District Manager. Besides from the constant s*xual innuendos towards women co-workers. Is an alright guy. He feeds into the warehouse managers ego, even though I've told him flat out that I am the one doing all the work, even offered to take the position to ditch Jack. He knew that I was working after pinching a nerve in my back and was SUPPOSED to be on 20lb light duty, I was forced to continue packing shingle and siding orders. I cried out for help from everyone single one of them and they showed no care. Even went as far as telling me that no should care about my problems. After complaining several times about being mistreated I was told that "it's Jack, that's just how he is. Don't take it personal."
I always felt like just another warehouse guy. Everyone treated me like I was below them. Never once felt appreciated for the work I DID.
Now Ed, Jason, and Jack are trying to take away bathroom privileges from my older brother (who currently works there) because he sh*ts in the morning like every human being. You CANNOT take away a human need. You expect the most from your employees and try to treat like literal sl*ves. You CANNOT take away bathrooms. You CANNOT hide toilet paper in your office to prevent anyone from going. You CANNOT treat the employees who make you like garbage. Without the warehouse guys you keyboard warriors would be f*cked. Jack too.
Also going from 8mil/year to 13mil/year is a big accomplishment, maybe instead of giving raises to people who don't matter like both Branch and Warehouse "Managers." You should pay the people doing work.
To any customers, im sorry if I treated you badly, I was trained to do so.
To any homeowners, if your subcontractors go to Richards immediately cancel your order, you will get damaged and dirty product.
To any new employees, please get as far from Richards as you can. You will not be happy.
To Shelly Hall, you are THE best inside sales women I've ever met. Find a place that appreciates you and not some dumb bro*d that has seniority over you. read more
