Within the first week of recovery, I had significant pain and swelling on my left side and could not fully lower my arm. I repeatedly contacted the office and was consistently told this was normal. Three weeks post-op, I developed a hematoma that was not drained, which caused my incision to reopen. Despite calling the office multiple times a week with concerns, I was still reassured this was normal healing. By my one-month follow-up, I had multiple open areas under my breast. Although it was visibly concerning, I was told it would just take longer to heal and the scarring would not be worse. A week later, another physician immediately diagnosed tissue and fat necrosis. I required antibiotics and was told it was too late to return to the OR. As a result, I ultimately needed significant revision surgery, including large scar revisions on both sides and augmentation to correct damage caused by the untreated hematoma. This was a long, painful recovery that I believe could have been prevented if my concerns had been addressed earlier.
