Mercer County Civil Courthouse

Mercer County Civil Courthouse

How the Mercer County Courthouse (civil) is rated depends on what side of the bar you find…read moreyourself. If you are a plaintiff seeking justice for a wrong done to you, you will likely find a fair level of compensation for pain and suffering or breach of contract, and feel some satisfaction with your experience in the building. However, as a defendant it is more likely you will dread what this institution has done to you. All matters of social interactions that go sideways can find themselves being evaluated and judged here, although those that cross the criminal line will be heard and disposed of at the criminal courthouse a few blocks away. The four story hall of justice was originally designed for both civil and criminal cases and although less than 20 years old, legal conflicts have risen so fast that not only a second new building was needed just for the bad boys, and a third (the currently being renovated old courthouse annex) for the county prosecutor staff. The taxpayers can't be happy about that. There aren't enough judges to hear the cases that don't settle, so the wait for your day in court is often years after the events that began the long course to an uncertain outcome. It is frustrating and unpleasant, yet it is the system chosen to resolve conflicts with confrontations minimized. Oh, and the elevators are as slow as the slog to justice.

Security guards at entrance with metal detectors and asked them what floor for guardianship and they had no idea. Went to 4 th floor for civil cases as told by a friend and the officers there had no idea either but we found it in my paperwork application and on yelp on my phone. Thank goodness at least they were nice about everything. I forgot two signatures and raced back a second time before closing time with doors locked upstairs and the lady at the guardianship office let me in. Thank goodness! Hope our application gets approved soon.

The Clarkson S. Fisher Federal Building and Courthouse on East State Street, Trenton, NJ, was built…read morein 1932 in the Renaissance style and has undergone several renovations over the past decades to increase security. The post office that once occupied the first floor was removed because it attracted too many people and due to the inaccessibility of convenient parking. DHS eliminated street parking in front of the building because of the risks realized in Oklahoma City. My first law office in Trenton was down the block, and I still find myself in the neighborhood for the Trenton Transportation Center and state offices nearby. Recently I had a few legal matters inside the courthouse, and found my way to the courtrooms on the upper floors for conferences and oral arguments. The chambers and courtrooms are large, high ceilinged and somber compared to the local courts, and give a sense of decorum and dignity that reflects the seriousness of the issues handled there. Just ascending in the elevators and walking the halls brings forth gravitas. So, I enjoyed the time there. The arguments by both sides; the close questioning by the magistrate and judge, and even the settlement negotiations beyond the heavy doors of the inner sanctum. Even better when we succeeded. Not that anyone should want to be called to court there on the wrong end of an indictment or a civil dispute, but if you find yourself there for a less oppressive reason, take a few moments to appreciate the impressive marble, polished wood and heavy oil portraits that contribute to the history of the U. S. Judiciary, and the awesomeness it brings to your day in court.

Welcome to New Jersey if we wanted you to like us by now we would've told you to. Lol. Most people…read morewho live here don't really have attitude problems that's just a perception problem on your end. But seriously no hard feelings though it's just how we were brought up, if you got something on your mind here you say it. "Tell it like it is" should be the official State motto already. And no matter what part of this uniquely diverse State you live in, the fact is most people who call New Jersey their home have an unmistakable uncompromising pride in where it is they come from.    From the Shores to the Mountains and the Rivers, Lakes, and Ponds. To the Cities, Streets, and Valleys and Farmlands some call home. To it's Overcrowded Highways to it's Pinelands and Great Swamps. We love our State of Jersey for ALL that She has got.

For years, I've heard so many things about New Jersey. The good, the bad, the ugly. When she mentioned getting married in her fiancé's aunt and uncles Jersey farmhouse, I was excited to finally visit outside of a train stop on the way to NYC from Philly. Though the roads in the countryside were scary with deer jumping out and some angry driver instances, I have to say I fell in love with the farmhouse and the views along with it in Flemington. Truly breathtaking and a beautiful backdrop for my friend's gothic-style wedding. I could do without the humidity in June though! Still a solid 5-star as the scenery was gorgeous!
