Stay away from this vet! I had a terrible experience when I was doing work experience one summer. Richard wasn't very approachable for me and he was a bit too impatient, short-tempered and stern for my liking and not very outgoing to customers. In my experience, he came off as stand-offish, abrupt and rude to customers. I haven't seen him be confrontational before, but I have seen him be abrupt and aloof and act disinterested in the customers. I don't feel like I learned a lot from him personally, even though I came here to do Animal Care roles so I could learn more, I was stuck doing all his personal and irrelevant jobs that had nothing to do with veterinary. I feel like he was using me for unpaid, manual labour, which were not my responsibility to fulfil, e.g. taking the rubbish out, doing laundry, shopping. In other vet clinics I've seen, the staff split the load, but generally the owner doesn't pass off any personal chores on employees like that. Richard was really taking advantage of me and not even paying me even a €10 tip for my effort. Not to mention, there's absolutely nothing to do there and he's not very easy to talk to or get along with. The worst bit was definitely when I was fostering a little dog for him, she was a very nervous dog so I was been careful to watch her and keep a close on her. But, she got out anyway. But, I still moved mountains and was out until after dark looking for her because I was afraid something happened to her. I'm disappointed Richard didn't tell me she arrived back at the Vet Clinic within an hour of escaping from my house, because it left me fearing for her safety and my parents felt exactly the same way. He should've told she was safe and sound rather than waiting the very next day. He's also completely in it for money and not for the animal and he makes customers have to get cash to pay him rather than having a card machine on hand. It puts a lot more pressure and stress on the customers. Don't go to this vet, there's plenty of other vets around the town, go to McGraths, Cu Chulainn's, Quilters, any of them, stay away from Hurley's. read more

Scam artist motivated by YOUR money. Told me my cats paw was broken, IT WASNT she was in a cat fight it was swollen from the bite. Charged me for sedation, X-Ray, medication and treatment for a phantom injury. This practise should be shut down for mal practise. I got my dog groomed today and it's the worse cut I ever got in my life of owning animals. He also cut my dogs nail to bleeding point and my dog is in pain. Charged me 55 Euro . My dog in there since 10:30 am to 6:30 pm . Poor dog so stressed . Never again. Not even willing to let him fix it as I'm to worried how bad more it can get. He tells us then, he not a groomer, refused to refund us . Complete fraud. read more

I had a terrible experience here,i booked my guinea pig to be neutered,he was only 5/6 wks old,i was told to bring him in in the morning.I was called at about 5.30 to b told to hurry for 6 even though it said they were open til 7.(We live 20 mins away)Then he told me he was too small to b operated on and charged me 35 euro to be told that,i told him why did he not say in the beginning that they need to be a certain weight and age to get the operation before letting me do all of this,i was very upset and angry at the cost and hassle,when I told him this he said he would knock the cash of the operation money when I bring him back...I didn't go back to him.It wasn't just all this,i think he could of come across a lot nicer...I found it all to be about the money and not great customer service,so I decided not to go to him again and find a better vet in the end.Shame as any other vet in the past has been very kind.(and cheaper).... read more
